Wether you buy Coke or root beer, the price is similar, either individually from cold storage at checknout or 6 or 8 packs. Oh, yes, root beer float from a frozen mug! You eat it with sa spoon like ice cream, then finish it by drinking what remains.

Soda actually started as a form of medicine, believe it or not. Soda has carbonated water in it which back then was thought at the time to be a cure for arthritis and the flavoring and sugar was meant to make it easier to drink. Eventually this was dropped because that turned out to not be true but the drinks popularity stuck because since it wasn't alcoholic (soft means no alcohol and hard means alchohol is present) it could be marketed to everyone. Hence its prevalence in the West.

roughly coke here costs between $1.50-2.00. Zangieff, from my personal taste i prefer Barq's because it has more of the sasafras plant flavor, and A&W has more of a vanilla/sasafras combo.

There are 2 ways to do a root beer float. If you are a person who likes the foam, pour the root beer over the ice cream, if you don't like the foam, put the ice cream into a glass of root beer. The foam is produced when you pour the root beer over the cold ice cream.

I believe the popularity of soda in the US is way down because they found out that phosphoric acid is really bad for you. (Both coke and Pepsi have it) Some root beers have it, some don’t. I’d go by the ingredients. We had a similar soda called birch beer. In our yard we’re 3 large black birch trees. When they had little shoots growing out of the base of the tree, we would pick them and chew on them for the flavor of birch beer. A fun show, thanks.

I can purchase root beer (any brand) or cola (any brand) including Coca-Col for the same price in the U.S. Of course, the price varies, but I'd guess US$1.50 - US$2 each in most markets for any canned or bottled soda. As far as the flavor, I enjoy Root Beer as an alternative to other sodas, such as colas or citrus-flavored drinks, Sprite, 7-Up..

I like A&W, I don't like Barq's (weird aftertaste), and I don't care for Coke. A&W has a more vanilla flavor although I don't think they use real vanilla any more. Also, they use to be a sort of fast food chain, and the root beer at the restaurants was the best. There are "craft" root beers that do use real vanilla, and they are usually very good. Root beer floats are great too (w/vanilla ice cream).

@@Zangieff A & W especially is made to pour into a glass, like you would a Guinness beer. Then you let the foam settle. But I get how it's unusual and an acquired taste. Having watched a bunch of Russian vloggers though, I'm surprised. It seems like 'tinctures' of various plants. Rootbeer started out as the American equivalent of that...roots, berries, etc boiled then concentrated into a syrup with sugar, then mixed with soda (i.e. gassed) water.
