Chop Suey is a a Chinese dish. Good food. This song was initially titled Suicide. That's what it is about. It's not about food. The industry decided that you couldn't talk about suicide , so they changed the name of the song. Simple as. This song is about suicide.
@bobbymckenney10802 жыл бұрын
True. The song is about suicide... suicide bombers, "self-righteous suicide" and being "forsaken" by God for breaking two of his Top 10, "Thou shalt not kill. And Thou shalt not take the name of our lord in vain", i.e. killing in his name. But the lead is also eating it in the video so that might have been a factor in the new name as well.
@tomrose94652 жыл бұрын
Also, also. They landed on Chop Suey because they "Chopped" suicide in half.

@falsemcnuggethope2 жыл бұрын
@@bobbymckenney1080 yes, but from a different perspective than what you posted. Daron Malakian has said: “The song is about how we are regarded differently depending on how we pass. Everyone deserves to die. Like, if I were now to die from drug abuse, they might say I deserved it because I abused dangerous drugs. Hence the line, ‘I cry when angels deserve to die‘…” And from another interview: “It occurred to me how we are judgmental towards people, even in death,” explains Daron. “If someone died in a car accident, you’d say, ‘Oh, poor thing.’ But if they died in a car accident while they were drunk, that would change your whole perception of how they died, and judging his or her death a in a different way. For some reason, that thought was weird to me. I was probably smoking weed or something…”

Chop Suey is an Chinese-American stir-fry vegetable dish that can be served with meat/poultry/fish. The American name 'Chop Suey' comes from the Cantonese 'tsap seui' and the Mandarin 'tsa-sui', similar dishes.
@subliminallime43212 жыл бұрын
The title of the song was originally just 'Suicide' but the record company thought they would have a hard time getting it on radio & MTV with that title so they changed it to 'Chop Suey' because suey kind of sounds similar to the sui in suicide and because the food chop suey is kind of a mixture of other dishes kind of how the song is a mixture of different things...

I usually don't like people stopping the video so much, but you do it because you enjoy it so much, which is great that you're experiencing a new type of music that you like so it doesn't bother me at all. Don't take the negativity in the comment sections to heart, be you and you'll draw subs that likes you for being you, you don't need to try to make people happy. If they don't like it they can go somewhere else. The word you're looking for is transition by the way.

This band was a huge part of the late 90s and 00s nu-metal scene. Instead of transaction, you mean transition. This band was all over the place lol. Some of their songs were very deep, and some of them very silly. My favorite song of theirs is BYOB, which is a play on the American saying of bring your own beer by twisting it to bring your own bombs. It was a protest song about our invasion of Iraq. Toxicity, Deer Dance, Hypnotize, Aerials, and Bounce are also great. You can never have too much rock music in your life lol.

Transaction. Giving something to get something, in return. Your clients give you money; in return, you give them dancing lessons or a nail job. Every time you buy something at the store that is a transaction : a trade of some kind. Or, another sort of transaction. Irina gives her viewers her opinions and reactions, her thoughts and feelings. And in return, we give Irina our time, attention, and maybe, a little piece of our hearts. Transition...is shifting or moving from one position to another or one way of being to another. Dancers transition from one stance to another, from one tempo to another, etc. The transition, moving from yellow to red, is orange. You can transition from singing loudly to softly through gradual change...or you can transition suddenly from a shout to a whisper, etc. :)

For those frustrated at the amount of pausing she does please understand something. There are two reasons. First, they have pause the video in order to avoid a copyright violation. They are using content that is not theirs so if they do not change it at all it will get flagged. KZbin is very strict about that. The second reason is so the video can be monetized ( ability to make money off ads). You will see that most all of her videos are over 8 minutes long. That is because it enables ads during the middle of the video called "mid-rolls") in addition to having them at the beginnings and ends of videos. It takes a lot of time and money buying equipment and making reactions. Those are Google’s rules
@MaverickGaming2 жыл бұрын
Though you're correct about the ads and such, it doesn't take much time or money to make reactions, which is why they're so popular. If you go to any popular reaction page and add up all of their equipment they use in their description it only comes up to $300-$400, which I guess can be a lot for some people. The editing time is usually just an hour or so to cut out any bad portions or adding overlays, but usually with reaction videos its done all in one take because that's just the nature of them. Once you get good at doing the reactions you shouldn't even have to cut anything out, just add overlays which are usually just templates you drag into the video timeline...doesn't take much time at all. I had another channel where I did reactions and I could do enough reactions for 2 weeks, along with editing them with all the fancy stuff, render and upload them on a scheduled release on youtube inside of a day.

(Long text ahead, sorry in advance and thank you for your time) I loved seeing you enjoy this and get a little scared/concerned when they started randomly screaming or speeding up the pace😂👌 Chop Suey is a food, but it's also the result of combining the last syllable of the word 'righteous' and the first syllable of the word 'suicide'! (They were originally going to name this song 'Suicide') Yes, they're still alive and they're my favorite band! They are Armenian-American! They "broke up," but I think they still perform together and they actually released 2 new songs in 2020 to raise awareness and funds for a war going on in Armenia! I really reccomend the songs Toxicity, Aerials, Holy Mountains and Mr. Jack since you said you prefer calmer songs! Otherwise I would've also reccomended you B.Y.O.B. (bring your own bombs), Prison Song and Sugar (one of their first songs) And bonus info: their names are Serj Tankian (lead singer in yellow t-shirt), Daron Malakian (also lead singer, plays the guitar), John Dolmayan (the awesome drummer) and Shavo Odadjian (the one with the epic beard😂)

FYI - This video was from 2001... from System of a Down's 2nd album 'Toxicity'. The band had a very off-the-wall metal sound... They tour often now, but haven't made any new music since 2006. Their singer and guitarist have put out solo music. The band members are Armenian-Americans (3rd generation)... their grandparents fled Armenia during World War I during the genocide of Armenians by the Ottoman Turks... They all have Armenian names - Serj Tankian (lead vocals), Daron Malakian (guitar & vocals), Shavo Odadjian (bass) & John Dolmayan (drums)... and they have a lot of East European/ Mediterranean influences in their music. Some of System of a Down's songs - 'Toxicity' ... 'Aerials' ... 'Hypnotize' ... 'Sugar'... 'P.L.U.C.K' 🤘🤘🔥🔥

It is said that Jesus knew of his own death before it happened and yet he allowed it to happen knowing he was going to die physically. I always assumed that this song was mainly talking about Jesus’ crucifixion in a mocking way. His death was planned and put into action by God, who is also Jesus, making it- technically- a “suicide,” and his death was completely focused on him and how he would change humanity through it, making it “self-righteous.” All the “Father, into your hands, I commend my spirit. Why have you forsaken me?” (words spoken by Jesus on the cross) and stuff about angels deserving to die just further contributes to this theory.
