Same about music teachers. My co-worker brings her daughter to a piano teacher from Russia (with all credentials, of course, not just from Russia per ce). And the kid was best at some performances etc. (the child loves the lessons, btw). She already got many prizes.

I'm an English tutor in Russia and in our private school we used to give "birds" (stamps) to the best students. One kid always wanted to get one and I didn't give it to him 2 times in a row... To this day I still can't forget his terribly long and hard crying in front of his parents... We don't do that now. So I literally felt the situation in the basketball class with my skin.

I'm not Russian, but I can confirm that. I have a Russian friend, and a couple of years ago while we were on vacation in Spain some drunk Americans were sitting next to us in a restaurant and were trying to pick a fight. When my Russian friend got pissed off he kicked one guys ass with just two hits. He fell on the ground sleeping. His friends got up to fight us but my Russian friend went to fight them 4 against 1, and when he started screaming in Russian accent that he would kill them all, they kinda got scared and stopped picking a fight and got nice in an instant saying that their friend was too drunk and didn't know what he was doing. They apologized and left the place. So yeah, Russians can be scary, especially young and strong Russians with muscles. :)))

Literally: "In prison camps in Siberia." (Kudos, Maz!). Second, there are those fighting the regime. There are those trying to survive one way or another. Many are fleeing the country leaving everything behind. (For example, there were a couple of guys who sailed from Chukotka to Alaska in a small boat.) Why anyone would even wonder? xD Some ex-Russian spies are killed in London by POLONIUM, well... Who could it be? Like I think it's pretty obvious that Putin wanted to make the case, whoever betrays Russia, would get killed by POLONIUM.

He’s right about the sticker thing. I was lucky to have lived in both the east and west of Europe. 8th place trophies weren’t a thing in Ukraine, u were either praised for being good and criticised for mistakes, or reminded u were shit. Here in UK everyone is hesitant to say anything because ‘it’s important for kids to have high self esteem’

Ohhhhhhh maaaaaaaaan! Back when i was in the 1st grade, our teacher used to pin cut-outs of a crayon colored sun to the notepads that had the neatest cleanest writings in it. I’m 28 years now and I still have a couple of notepads with that pined sun stashed somewhere among my possessions :)))

I came from Russia to US many years ago but recently got married to Russian guy who I brought from Russia. His Russian accent is so strong and I actually see that people are scared when they meet him, bad reputation I guess in USA.
