Just gotta man up bro. Keep training and keep improving. It helps to find a sparring/training partner that has a similar style or habits as the fighters you're having problems with in order to adapt to them. You win some, you lose some bro, just keep grinding!

i always just keep spamming jabs with my long noodle arms. if they come in agressively i use a stiff jab and keep my glove in his face until the right hand is almost there.

Good video coach, please could you make a video on how to beat a fighter with good head movement? For context, I train at a gym with a fighter who fights with philly shell and low hands. He has very good reflexes and head movement and always punishes by counter punching. What is a good strategy to overcome this?

Are there training suggestions for increasing the speed and explosiveness of rotating the hips? I am slow in doing this and it makes so many things harder and less effective as a result.
@stalliontheplumber74062 жыл бұрын
Are you standing flat on your feet, or up on your toes? Cause there's a huge difference of speed and ease already there. Stand in a stance in front of a mirror and put your hands on your shoulders. Then move your hips and shoulders simultaneously like if you were throwing punches. Try being flexible in your knees. It's hard to give you advice, cause it all depends on your stance (direction and distance of feet). Where to be stiff or flexible is important to know. The mirror is your best friend if you don't have a coach available.

im 5'2 I spar people 6'2 What i find hard are tall fights who use the philly shell i love going for the body but If a tall fighter has a fast jab and can counter punch its not easy otherwise Ive purposefully made myself even smaller so they literally have to punch downward. the only problem is my arms are shorter than their so if i cant get my foot in the right place I can't reach I'll hit nothing but air it kinda sucks today I was brainstorming and praciticing some defense ideas 1,2,1 to the body but using my other hand to block across hard to explain .....
@Jesussat55js Жыл бұрын
When your oponent is 15cm or more than you is a nightmare but try to use diagonal, lateral steps to shorten the distance, try to improve your hip, shoulder rotation for more reach, try to improve your speed and counter punching ability, that helps a lot to overcome reach advantage. Study short boxers with diferent style in slow motion(tysom, dwigh muhamad qawi, jake la motta, hasanboy dusmatov, Alexander Povetkin, Orlando Canizales, Joe Frazier, Pacquiao, Roberto Duran(when he steps in higher weights classes), Aaron Pryor, Fighting Harada, Miguel Canto, etc.

Great coach ! I've a question for you. As an amateur boxer my biggest truble , even if i learned well boxing punch , is that i can't let my hand go and i wait to much for clean punch occasioni. Do you have any advice for stuck boxer like me?. Can you try to explain how to see a use all the Occasion for land punches? Tank you for your very usefull videos.

try to do different types of sparring (technical sparring with 30 percent strength, straight punches-only sparring, hooks-only sparring, one-handed sparring, close-range only sparring, etc.) and try to find mature sparring partners to help you work , and put aside the ego
@stalliontheplumber74062 жыл бұрын
My advice is to find a partner where you both just throw techniques, but skin touch, and not too explosive. No need to get a clean hit, but just practice to let your hands go as much as possible. It's mostly because of tension and the "will to score" that you get in your situation. It's easy to get stressed in sparring if you feel that you can't relax. It takes time to get that natural flow and also reactions.

Great question
@Fettomocken2 жыл бұрын
same weight but bigger and more muscles? That doesnt make sense in my head. If he has greater overall technique than you, he beats you. Seriously. No way to beat a stronger and more skilled opponent. That simply means he is the better fighter. As for an opponent who charges at you, i think your best bet is footwork. If youre quick enough on your feet, you can be to his left and land a straight right on the left side of his head. It isnt easy to pull off but i have done it a few times. Very fun and satisfying. You also mentioned a great chin so i assume you probably land a jab or two when hes rushing you but that doesnt stop him. I know how it feels, believe me. Im a tall guy and my punches are on the weaker side, thats why i think it is easier to use my feet to keep him away. Not just back away from him as he chases you. Twist to the side so youre not at the place he is charging. You can use this to create an opening to attack as in the example i mentioned. You also need good cardio because it is a fighting style that requires lots of quick shifts in your movements. If youre interested, i can give a hint on a good way to train footwork.
