I saw your video showing the cut out from the side. How would you ever see what you are doing in there to weld from the side?

I was just drilling those parts out from my mustang, good thing was that i had time to drill sides of (upper)cowl cover loose. So i can still use this method to fix cowl.. just wondering how the welding and fixing will succeed on,because of opening being so small???

I have a 66 that is white and the cowl either is or was painted white at some point. My assumption is that I will have to pull this cover to get paint under it so it doesnt stick out?

No, Ford never really intended for the color of the car to be covering the floor of the cowl as paint cant get down there, also if you pull the cowl top vent you will be opening a " can of worn's" also when you weld it back on, the paint along the sides will burn and blister creating area's to rust. Leave well enough alone and keep it simple. Get a can of spray under coating. Using the spray wand provided you can spray the floor of the cowl thru the grille opening's.

I drove around for 10 + yrs with a plastic cover over those vents. Then a few yrs ago I saw a way to repair the cowl vents from under the dash. A lot of under dash work, thankfully I have a good chiro, lol But in the end it was well worth it. Thanks Chris I learn a lot from all your videos!
