I was so upset the other day when you mentioned that someone said you were uneducated. The next time you can tell them you have a masters degree in Culinary Arts, Gardening, Canning, Baking and Farming! I admire your principles, lifestyle and home so very much. I believe it is the true way that God designed and wanted us to live. I didnt want to mention that negativity again but i was sitting here watching you and looking at all you do and can do and then I saw your beautiful flowers they are gorgeous and I havent found the right words for the garden. It is immaculate. Your education goes bwyond books and a classroom and I say thats one of the best kind! Thanks fornyour videos and God bless!

I have not read other comments, yours made my jaws drop. How can anyone say something so negative? I love watching the Zimmermans. Whoever said something negative about this family should be ashamed. I have used many of her recipes and have never had a problem. Keep doing what makes you happy.

@@mkfurr60 Amen I agree with you totally. It wasn't this post but she told about it in a different post and the more I watch them the more it upsets me that someone could make such derogatory comments. Little did they know they were just thoughtless and uneducated themselves because she has Ioads of knowledge!

All I have to about negative comments! If you are not in the arena getting your ass kicked on occasion, I am not interested in or open to your feedback. There are a million cheap seats in the world today filled with people who will never be brave with their own lives, but will spend every ounce of energy they have hurling advice and judgement at those of us trying to dare greatly. Their only contributions are criticism, cynicism, and fear-mongering. If you're criticizing from a place where you're not also putting yourself on the line, I'm not interested in your feedback. Hi Ruthann, I recently found you on KZbin and I sincerely love watching you and your family! My grandmother was raised conservative Brethren in Christ (came for Mennonite background). I was raised on a dairy farm in PA and I miss that life so much! One of the things I especially LOVE about your channel is that you and your family LIVE while filming. You don’t edit out the kids when they walk thru or when they’re heading to bed. Please don’t ever change that, it’s part of draw to your content; at least for me! It’s real life and I love that! Thank you so much for inviting us into your home and life, sharing your experiences, thoughts and ideas. It is so very appreciated ❤ Be blessed! God is so Good!

Ruthann, I had a bread baking breakthrough today because of this video. I had to find it in my history and come tell you. I didn’t use this recipe, but I TEMPED MY BREAD and it changed everything. I took it out of the oven at like 195 degrees, a full 20 minutes before I usually take it out, and it. Is. Amazing. Who knew I was overcooking my bread by 20 minutes. It wasn’t burned, but it was very hard.. now I know! I will do this forever! (When I was on Instagram, I followed you, but have since quit and I’m so happy to find you here. And now my family will be too with this soft bread. 😂)

I SO enjoy your videos!! I am not new to baking, gardening, or preserving, but I learn new things with each video. What I know, I learned by trial and error. In many ways, I almost envy you for your upbringing and teachings from your mother and grandmother. It took me a while to learn how dough should look or feel when it is right, or to figure out more efficient ways to do things. I have had sourdough starters in the past, but ended up neglecting it and letting it die. I am inspired to make another starter and try again. Your garden looks green and beautiful and your flower beds are just lovely!

I think your story (and mine) could be repeated thousands of times. Our grandmothers and mothers left the hard work of home for the somewhat less stressful/hard work of offices and stores. (True for me anyway!) So, now we are behind. I’m 53 and have been baking bread for 20+ years but I just learned how to knead my dough for myself and know when to stop and set it to rest!

@@meredithmcgrew1157 yes! I am in my 60’s and have been baking bread off and on over the last 20-30 years ( including my first scattered attempts… LOL), but I’d say that I’ve only gotten pretty consistently good results over the last 6-7 years, and improving a little each time. To my knowledge, Neither my mother or grandmother baked anything with yeast.. cornbread being mostly the bread they made. They were both great cooks, though. I am happy that I’ve become consistent with my baking, but sad that it has taken me so late in life to become proficient with baking. I still struggle with handling pie dough.. my pies are good, but often patchy!! LOL

I made your first recipe last week and the bread is beyond fantastic, though I confess I made two alterations that kicked it into the 'best bread I've ever made or for that matter eaten' category. One is the variation you made this time and that is adding eggs, and the other is that instead of milk I used homemade kefir. Highly, highly, highly recommend this. Would love to hear your comments if you do give it a try.
