When I worked at Caltrans We got a brand new fancy cone truck With a roof top flashing arrow board. First day a guy drove it thru a fast food Drive thru. Roof peeled off real clean. He got fired.

I had a friend of a friend that tried going through a bank drive through. She wedged it in like a cork! I came to her rescue. I backed the trailer out. Luckily she didn’t do too much damage!

One time my boss needed me to pick up a 6000lb chipper all the way across Los Angeles. 100miles. All I had was a 3/4 ton pick up. He said do u think u can do it safely ? I said sure I will just go slow. So I took many side roads back at 35mph. Took all day but was safe

Been disabled since age fourteen in 1972, and now at age sixty-five, probably will have to give up driver's license and driving soon, but I did have a motor van in 1988 for five years. I watch these RV disaster videos for entertainment, my son at age forty will probably soon retire and live in one. Hope you don't mind that in my medicated, couch-filled days and nights, I chuckle and get many laughs from RV nightmares, crashes, stuck in snow and mud, you name it. Hey healthy people, just park it for a few hours, and be glad you're alive today! Okay, now go crash! - j q t -

Sway is induced on any size tow vehicle. Even a semi truck experiences sway. Trailers have to sway because they are attached at the ball. These people needed anti-sway and lower speed. Bigger tow vehicles are kind of a myth these days. While they may help overcome some sway, there’s no truck large enough to eliminate it. Speeds, hitch setup, trailer loading, tires those are the bigger safety concerns

AWESOME! Truck drivers are “professionally” trained to haul trailers. I say that slangly. But during the recreational months, so many inexperienced people come out onto the roads. The camper has been sitting for six months; BUT, let’s take it on a journey without checking the tires!!! LMAO

@@RollinwiththeBolens I'm new to RV'ing. Bought an old Class A. I've only been out twice but I've already learned that driving slow (55) is easier, safer and way less stressful. If RV'ing is supposed to be enjoyable, then it makes sense to take your time. What am I missing? Why are these people still driving like they're late for a meeting? Does RV'ing get boring? PS. Great advice to not trust Sales people, especially if you're driving a Chevette. Oh, and I'm quite alarmed with 2:41. That heavy overhead crushed that truck, hope they're not hurt!

Any of these crashes passing an 18wheeler are seay induced by the aerodynamic wake around the large truck. theres a bow wave just like a big boat has, a suction along the side, and a big turbulent wake behind the trailer as well. This grabs and pushes the trailer as you pass.

I don't think speed is ever a factor in swaying. In my opinion, you should be able to go 100 miles an hour without any sway. And there's no darn need to go 100 miles an hour. Here's my list of what I think causes sway from the most common to the least. Number one, not enough tongue weight. Number two insufficient tongue weight. Number 3, 4, and 5, all insufficient tongue weight. Number 6, a towing vehicle not built for that heavy of a trailer. Others might be, mismatched tires, low pressure on some tires, to high pressure on some tires, uneven tire pressure, maybe ridiculously too heavy tongue weight. A trailer that's heavy on one side light on the other, sloppy/loose steering on the tow vehicle, a towing vehicle in desperate need of an alignment. Anyways those are my thoughts. Have a great day. 🙂🙂 Wind? Well, that can make any vehicle misbehave.

it's ironic people are scared to pass a big truck so they speed up which is exactly what you dont want to do to pass a big truck

After 2 sequential tire blow outs- one on the Mercedes on the dolly, the other a bit later on the dolly- we are getting tire pressure monitors because we didn't feel anything in the Motorcoach. One vehicle flagged us, and we did a customary recheck and found the dolly tire tore up. High speeds, sustained travel time over-heats the tires and they blow. This is one of the reasons for those 3 hours/or 300 miles, 4 hours/or 4 hundred miles situations. Wear & tear . Also, using tire covers when parked.

You named 1) no anti-sway, 2) excessive speed, 3) wrong hitch setup, 4) undersized tow vehicle, as your best guesses as to why this sway accident occurred. I am sure the cause is too light a tongue weight. I use 4 different trailers these days down from 8 years ago. Sway is caused by lack of sufficient tongue weight almost 100% of the time. At least that's what my experience has taught me. All the best. Mark Henry

2:06 the airflow from the rig caused a push to the left, and started swinging, the tuck pulling was w in 1500lbs under weight to pull a trailer that long, looks like a lot of small factors all culminated to a disaster. Hope every one made it out.

The drive-thru one happened in my town. The video doesn't show the entire scene, but that snowbird tore up the entire drive thru. He ran over all the shrubs and destroyed two gates before he made it to the corner to finish off his 5th-wheel. Everybody's still talking about it. The Carl's Jr next door put up a sign that reads "NO TRAILERS IN DRIVE THRU". I guess you can't teach common sense.
