Hi Bruce! Big Thank You for your support and Huge Appreciation! We couldn’t do it without you! This episode highlights the fact that not all tire pressure monitor systems are alike. It also highlights that being an RV Newbie lasts a lot longer than we think. LOL. You’re the best! Safe travels from all of us here. Pam & Lee

You'll want to find the blue tooth repeater for your TPMS. Mine is clipped right to the batteries and mounted in thier box. The it I can check trailer tire pressures and temp from inside the house, 100' away.

Ref TPMS suggestion: Change your tire valve stems to the rigid stems. Note: we had NO tire issues for the first 15 years. Our first blow out occurred so we decided to install a tpms system. Our tpms system per the manual stated good with the existing stems. valve stem failure. So I installed high psi rubber valve stems; valve stem failure. So we installed the rigid valve stems No failures to date. We did encounter vandalism and two stems were cut. with the hp valve stems.The metal valve stem are also less prone to vandalism. Destroyed two tires in the process of the Proper Valve stems. Also note rubber stems were only one year old. Our tpms system recommends a signal repeater for longer campers. Safe Travels

Hi Mike. We are absolutely going to follow your roadmap. We heard that the flow through TPMS sensors might damage the rubber stems. Looks like you have confirmed that those rubber stems are the weak point and easy fail. Didn’t even think of someone cutting them off and stealing them. That’s just a bad day all around. You definitely tried everything finding the best solution. Our rig didn’t come with G-rated tires and we were not too happy about that. We are looking to change them out very soon. Once we do, we will be following your advice! For sure. Might even go with the internal TPMS straps instead of the external caps. Keep you posted.

I use to carry the same yellow container as you. I got a long funnel instead of the useless nozzle that is included with the container. I got tired of strapping the jug in the truck so I installed a aux fuel tank.
@discoveryboundrv2 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike. We completely agree! What a pain. I actually bought a funnel just for that situation. The problem is that it was in the front bay and I can’t open the door when we are hitched up. I remember wanting to throw that can away after I was done. 😀 Pam reminded me that it was almost 40 bucks. We are definitely going to look into either replacing the existing fuel tank with a larger fuel tank or an external aux tank for the back of the truck. The deserts of New Mexico and Nevada don’t care if you run out of gas. Great tip and thanks for sharing. Safe travels.

@@discoveryboundrv When we were in the mid-west /SW we saw a sign next services 125 miles. At least the 5 gallons would get you 50 miles closer!

LOL. Priceless! That same sign is the reason we bought a handheld CB radio. Maybe Pam can talk to someone while I’m kicking that yellow can down the street. 😋

Hi Lee and Pamela. Did Lee retire his Justin boot hat? I'll have to see what's the new one. That's what he got from the TPMS video? No, you did good.
@discoveryboundrv Жыл бұрын
Hi Keith. LOL. No, he says it’s his good luck charm and wears it only when he does truck maintenance. Now he has his Ariat hat. I’m sure there will be another one soon enough. 😀 Best, Pam

@@discoveryboundrv Sure does. We are taking our Jayco Travel Trailer to the same place you guys were at Walnut Hills Campground in Staunton this weekend. Frist shake down trip for us.
@discoveryboundrv2 жыл бұрын
That’s awesome! We are 100% positive that your first shake down trip will go a LOT better than ours. LOL. We stopped by there a few weeks ago and the new Charlie Obaugh RV dealership has a great new location and store. We went shopping there and got great deals on our new water hose and rain jackets. At walnut Hills, we miss feeding the ducks 🦆 around the campground. Such a fun memory for the whole family. Have fun on your camping trip and all the best from all of us here. 👍
@BigS6102 жыл бұрын
@@discoveryboundrv Thanks for the well wishes. The trip went fine and we really enjoyed the campground. We brought bird seed and also feed the ducks. Only problem we had was not being able to get the hot water to work. I am sure this is more user error since we had our Walk Through in March and did not get out to use until last weekend. We brought our camper from Charlie Obaugh.

We did too. 😀 If you do any kind of repairs or warranty work at their facility, Ask for Shawn! He is the best and knows his stuff. We’ve used him every time. Tell him Lee and Pam said Hi.

BMPro TPMS is useless when in the cab of the truck for me too. Took them off and replaced with a TireMinder with a repeater/extender.
@discoveryboundrv2 жыл бұрын
Hi Alan, we couldn't agree more. The phone never connects to the BMPro in the RV when we are sitting in the cab, and therefore we are never able to see the Tire Pressure. Also, we never got the other two caps to work even with new batteries. That whole TPMS system is now in the garbage and we went out and purchased a new TST TPMS system with a repeater/extender. Now it works like a champ. Glad to hear you experienced the same pain we did. Thought we were doing something wrong. Thanks and travel safe!
@davegruner19172 жыл бұрын
The TST 507 tpms is the way to go IMHO. They also offer a repeater for longer trailers. Does your truck have the remote tailgate release? Button is below the headlight dial.
@davegruner19172 жыл бұрын
Also, your tonneau cover should be able to lay down while folded. I had the BAK hard tonneau for years.
@discoveryboundrv2 жыл бұрын
Hi Dave, we completely agree with the TST 507. That is the one we just purchased to replace the BM Pro version that never worked. We installed the repeater to the battery and it works like a champ. We went with the Non-Color LCD screen and love it. The color version had real limitations with visibility. Simple and effective. Also, yes Maximus has the remote tailgate release.
@discoveryboundrv2 жыл бұрын
Hi Dave. We found that in some situations it will hit the front cap. Especially in the RV Park that we started our travel adventure. Since we error on the safe side, we just fold it up and leave it there. Also, when folded down, for some reason our hard-top tonneau doesn't lay down fully. It just bounces a little even when the straps are attached to lock it down. In the future, we might go with a slide version but definitely a hard-top. Love having that extra protection.
@davegruner19172 жыл бұрын
I ended up going with the ReTrax roll up tonneau.
@discoveryboundrv2 жыл бұрын
Hi Dave. That’s the one we were looking at as well. Let me know if you have any tips or issues with it. The only reason we haven’t upgraded is because we were looking into an external fuel tank to put in the bed. We didn’t want to back out West without one. Still researching a way to put them both in. 👍
@stevedenoyer5956 Жыл бұрын
Yeah that tpms that comes with the rig, not the best. I’ll be upgrading that. It doesn’t warn you either. FYI
@discoveryboundrv Жыл бұрын
Thanks Steve. We couldn’t get ours to work no matter how hard we tried. Once we got the TST TPMS we haven’t had an issue at all. Flat tires on the other hand you will be seeing in future videos. LOL
@jpw67692 жыл бұрын
The reason why the TPMS does not work in the rear is you're missing the rear sensors the pack you had was a pack of six I've seen that before the ones you put on the rear is for the middle tires when you have a camper with six wheels
@discoveryboundrv2 жыл бұрын
Great tips. Thank you! That pack of sensors came with the rig when we bought it. It had 4 of them in it and that was it. No clue where the rest went. We actually threw them away and got a TST TPMS and they work great. We laugh about this video because at that time we had no clue about anything dealing with the tires. As you can clearly see. LOL.

Lee what is DEF? Is that a additive to the diesel?
@discoveryboundrv3 жыл бұрын
DEF is Diesel Exhaust Fluid used to reduce the air pollution caused from a Diesel engine. Basically it gets sprayed into the exhaust to turn NOx emissions into Nitrogen and water.
