Mark I think I have watched this video and to be honest with you I freak out every time. I don't know how you stay so calm with a bill of $ 9000.00. Both of you are sooooo Calm. I have to say whoever buys your RV is going to get the best Used RV to be had in the US. Another great video guys, thank you for sharing.
@OurJourneyInMyles4 жыл бұрын
I would love to drink in your compliment Brian,......but I think quite a few other Motorhome RV owners do the same thing. (I do have excellent records though!) It is really easy, after you make the "commitment" to adopt this lifestyle to just do what it takes to keep humpty dumpty together,.......as long as you planned for it financially. That is why we published our cost videos so folks can see what level they want to jump into RVing at. The only difference with our rig is that we are laying out all our costs for all to learn from on KZbin. We do not feel many of these costs are "out of sorts". This really is how it is. I'm certain others will chime in no, that they spend $50/month. I am happy for them, but I don't like tents. Stay tuned for our video on our August 2 thru 5th 2020 visit to the Newmar Factory for hopefully the "final" repair to our full wall slide. We expect that to be $3000,......
@brianwoods24304 жыл бұрын
Mark you guys are so down to earth. My wife and I are plaining on joining you in the Rv life and with the information from kind people like you, we have a better idea what we are getting into. We were plaining on ordering a 2021 Newmar 4011 Kountry coach ( 4011 new model for 2021) but with everything going on and that it was going to be 4 -5 months before it was delivered we decided to wait tell fall and see how things are with the world. If your ever in N.W. Ohio stop and see us, we have full hookups here 30 amp, dump out and water we would love to have you. There are a lot of things to do and see around here check out Sandusky county .org and Erie County.org for some of the area information. We will keep watching and learning, and again you have no idea how much you are helping people with your informative video's. Thank You

The one thing I love about NIRVC is they take the term "Full-service" to a whole new level. I also can tell you that their service after the sale is second to none. As Angie says in their KZbin videos, They don't just want to sell you a RV, they want to sell you every RV you buy from now on. Their service cost may be a little higher, but I think it's worth it because of the attention to details.
@OurJourneyInMyles4 жыл бұрын
Roy, I have always maintained that the most expensive repair is the one that was not done correctly, or was not guaranteed a reasonable amount of time after the job was completed! You mentioned that NIRVC is a full service shop. Imagine this. When at Gaffney SC Freightliner, they diagnosed I needed a new Intake Nox Sensor,......yet they could not do the work there. I asked NIRVC if they could do it. They have two certified Cummins mechanics on duty in Lawrenceville, and they were able to take care of it the next day. THAT truly is a one stop service center.

Thanks Mark and Sue for another great video. Becky and I enjoy following your journey. As a retired CE I like your evaluations and perspective on the equipment side of RVing. We ordered our ‘17 Canyon Star from from NIRVC in Atlanta and they were great to work with. We spend +/- 90 nights a year traveling in our CS. We had just returned home to NC after 6 weeks in Florida and Hilton Head, when things started getting crazy. We’re very anxious wanting to get back on the road and are experiencing the frustrations of not being able to travel as we would like. You and Sue hunker down and stay safe til this passes.

Thanks Harold. We will be in Florida waiting to see what develops for a few more months. Hope our A/C is up to the task.

Another great video. I presume NIRVC does not use deionized water to rinse the coach. But with the army of washers/detainers they probably don’t have to. We are 95% certain we are canceling the mid-June delivery of our new 2020 Dutch Star. Emotionally, I want to go ahead and go fulltime this summer but intellectually, the uncertainty of the near future with Covid-19 tells me to wait. All our future planning must be done in jello. Mark and Sue, stay safe and healthy. We hope to see you on the road in the future but for now we will continue to watch your videos and dream.
@OurJourneyInMyles4 жыл бұрын
From my vantage point James, I would be less than honest if I didn't agree that you do just that. Cancel the 2020 DS order. You most likely will have few places to go with it. RVers are not going to be a welcome sight for a while. We aren't making any summer plans because we are hesitant to leave this park we are in. State laws and campground rules are still figuring out what they will be.

You sounded a little down at the end of the video. I’m sure like us, you realize how lucky you are with all the difficulties many are going through right now. Returning from the Bahamas which is in total shutdown and sailing up the east coast, we may have shore excursions curtailed, dodging sever weather and facing many uncertainties. But we still count ourselves lucky to enjoy our lifestyle. In 2 years we plan to jump ship and land cruise in a Class A. But until then we will live your lives vicariously and be thankful for the health and happiness we both enjoy. We will get through this. Love your videos. Hang in there. SV No More Mondays

Great to hear from you again and happy that you have found a good place to ride out the virus. Although I was not initially impressed with the mechanical washer given the man hours they devoted to your coach the price does seem pretty good. It certainly came out beautiful and spotless (I wonder if they use de-ionized water for rinse?) We are planning to travel to NIRVC for retro-band install as soon as things start to normalize again. We have also noticed a pretty significant reduction in KZbin posts across all channels that I follow since this shelter in place started.

@OurJourneyInMyles4 жыл бұрын
When we decided we were going to stop making family videos for Facebook, and decided we would start to use KZbin as our delivery method, we needed a channel name. The coach is a diesel, so it had to be a masculine name. We liked the word Journey, because it was absolutely what was going to be happening to us. And when you are driving a lot of miles,.........why not do it IN MYLES!
@WILDEBILL3084 жыл бұрын
They do a great job washing and waxing. If I ever get a chance to go drive my coach enough to get it dirty I will go see them. Did you know the owner of NIRVC is letting RVers stay for free at his old location in Las vegas?
@OurJourneyInMyles4 жыл бұрын
GREAT TIP WILLIAM. I looked it up, and it's actually in the old location they had in Phoenix, AZ! Here is the letter CEO Brett Davis wrote: "I have spent the past two weeks here in Arizona at our Phoenix facility and we’re hearing several times a day from customers how their reservations have been cancelled at the RV parks or resorts they were scheduled to stay in. In the wake of all the “Stay at Home Orders” we would like to do what we can to help our fellow coach owners who have been displaced. As many of you know we recently moved our Phoenix operations to our new location in Surprise, Arizona. At our old location, we have 30 fenced-in, secure camping sites, each with 50 amp service. While we wish we had more to offer, we would like to make these 30 sites available to those coach owners who have been displaced. In addition to having individual electric, these 30 sites have access to fresh water and dump stations on site. This means that you will need to move your coach in order to fill it with fresh water and dump your tanks every few days depending on how long you shower. However, the water and dump stations are on site and inside the security gate. The last thing we will ever do is to try and profit from someone’s misfortune or this crisis. These 30 sites, along with the electricity used by those staying in them, will be free of charge. Please note they will be issued on a first come, first served basis. "Mi casa, su casa!" If you're already a member of the National Indoor RV Center family (or need to become one) who has been displaced, please call Dusty at (520) 253-3500 and she will coordinate with you to determine availability and provide you with a security code to gain access. If you are concerned about congregating, there is plenty of space at that location and we will leave the social distancing up to you. As a full timer I’ll admit it makes me a little jealous because knowing coach owners like I know them, I suspect it’s going to be like a 30 coach rally every day and every night. I’m sorry I’ll be missing out on all the fun! Keep your chin up and give us a call if you’re in need of a place to stay. All the best, Brett Davis NIRVC CEO"

The 1200 watt solar panels where already installed on our rig by the previous owner. We do not use the panels. The solar controller is still always on. We are always plugged into a power pedestal.

This was just a wash job. We get it washed about 3 or four times a year, and waxed at least once a year. Sue & I have only done it a few times ourselves, and it is always a way worse job when we are done. Many RV parks have wash crews that work the parks. Typically, they are the only allowed and recommended ones. They make sure they are insured in case someone falls off a roof. The parks with the dirt roads will make your coach look awful in 10 minutes!

Hello, I know you have been very happy with NIRVC. Do you happen to know if they offer exterior wax services? Would you happen to have any recommendations for someone who is top notch in waxing RVs? I stay very well on top of the soap and water washes on our rig, but when it comes to waxing, I just never have been able to have “the touch” for it like I would like to. It is one job that I would gladly pay good money for to someone who truly knows what products to use, and how to use them. (Had a younger, new-to-the-line-of-work guy wax a previous RV years ago, and whatever product/method he used left the worst, most stubborn black streaks I have ever experienced on that particular white-in-color RV). So, I am very leary of using “just anyone” or “the lowest bidder.” Finding companies in my area (DFW) who claim to do RV waxing via online searches is very easy, however I am hoping more to use word-of-mouth to find someone that is exceptional at it. Thank you.
@OurJourneyInMyles4 жыл бұрын
They do offer washing/waxing AND interior detailing services. You can find companies that will put on a ceramic wax that is a multi step, multi coat process that costs a ton of dough. You would have to research on the Newmar Forums if folks are happy with the results. Check on irv2.com My take is to use places like NIRVC that I trust, and have it done more often, the regular, an affordable way.,......then dropping a lot of cash on a "space age miracle coating". When you have folks climbing all over your rig for hours at a place that FIXES RV's like NIRVC,.......they just might find something that needs your additional attention.
@wes29754 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your reply and information. How often do you like to have your rig waxed? I know some people prefer twice a year, some once a year, and some less frequently than that. I would probably sleep OK with once a year (rig is stored indoors), however if I can find someone who is top notch at doing it, at a price that doesn’t break the bank too severely, I would probably look at having it done twice a year going forward. After asking you this question yesterday, I stumbled upon National Detail, which I do believe may in fact be part of the NIRVC umbrella of companies. They are a mobile service, and to have a 40 footer waxed, it appears as though the rate would be right about $500, which I am more than happy to pay frequently if the job done is excellent. Thank you again for your information, and for sharing your videos with us.

All that work and equipment they use and invested in makes that wash job a bargain ! I love those two cast concrete counter weights on the jib crane. Those self adjusting cables those guys are wearing could even support my manly body. Did the previous owner do a lot of bivwacking / boondocking that they had all those solar panels? NOx Sensor repair charge not cheap. Dam EPA regulations The new normal will be a better and safer normal. Just like changes after 9-11. What all is learned and implemented from this pandemic will make everyone safer and stronger. But I don't understand is why part of country is still so negative and not standing behind and supporting the efforts being implemented. To hell with the negative. "The Sky Is NOT FALLING"!✝
@OurJourneyInMyles4 жыл бұрын
Sue & I will have to wait and see how all these changes shake out. The states and country have much more pressing issues than worrying about us "full time" RVers without a real address. We understand this. Not sure if we will make it to Wisconsin this year! We are stuck for the time being in Florida. Our van and RV plates are Florida, so we are technically "home" already, and have no business driving around. Gman,...you would have climbed in the engine compartment and fixed the Nox Sensor yourself for the $350 part cost. I only fix the simple things now,........like a light bulb.
@gman77gas4 жыл бұрын
@@OurJourneyInMyles I would not attempt to change that sensor. Ya need a special socket to lace the wires threw. You Crack that sensor off in the manifold you got bigger problems. Question. How long can you run off batteries and solar if you had continue sunny days and you where leading a normal life not conserving. Like if you where out boondocking....just curious.
@OurJourneyInMyles4 жыл бұрын
You really know your repairs! Yes,.....you need a special socket, and I DID want someone else to break the threads so I would have some ready to replace it for me! I would expect to pay for that because it is only luck that gets the threads free,....and patience. On sunny days, with conservation, our 1200 watt solar can mostly keep up with the residential frig running, and "normal" loads like laptops and TV's. This is of course without the use of air conditioning units. You can make coffee and use the microwave sparingly. You quickly learn to "plan" your electric usage. For instance,.........cook a meal with the instant pot,...........while running the 10,000 watt diesel generator to charge batteries, while blow dry hair, while running a few loads of laundry,............while spinning 3 plates on long sticks!

You said you guys can never wash the roof when you wash the rig yourself. Did I miss the reason why you can't wash the roof yourself?
@OurJourneyInMyles4 жыл бұрын
We chose to stay off the roof for safety reasons. I (Mark) have brittle bones. I do not bend well anymore, and simply choose not to risk ending this great retirement by falling off. In three years on the road, I see plenty of agile "old guys" up on the roof, and tip my hat to them! But I have also seen the accidents. I accept my limitation,...... Thanks for stopping by Rod.

@@OurJourneyInMyles Ah that makes sense and totally understandable. Well, at least get someone up there a couple of times a year to inspect the sealant around the vents, skylights and such. I found a hole in my vent sealant the other day and it was not there just 4 months ago. Things can deteriorate quickly up there as I'm sure you already know. Have fun, be safe.
