Hi Liz, I'm really learning so much about RVs because of the QC issues,as you know I purchased my first motorhome last year, that would be the 2004 Bounder 35E 8.1 gas workhorse.I have not used it yet so it still has 13,9070 mi. on it,Joey that is! I no it's not fancy looking but I actually prayed that our Heavenly Father would lead me to a good one, not knowing anything, I plan on keeping it for the rest of my life and visiting all of the south west,I live near Joshua Tree, of course little items need attention such as covering the cheap wallpaper and getting rid of those three panel shower doors. The motorhome has no leaks, but I would like to have a person that weighs less than 170 video my roof so I can rest on that matter.I found out that for the windshield you want a two piece gasket type, not a one piece glue in, the one piece is expensive to replace and can pop out. This Bounder was manufactured in Riverside California late 2003 and the chassis in the fall of that year,as it was nice cool weather in both locations, not too hot nor for the chassis manufacturer too cold, I mentioned the weather conditions because the employees working under best conditions can and does affect workmanship.I just want your viewers to maybe buy older units as you have advised many times,my Bounder still smells like new,I mentioned this before,I have no idea other than the prayers.

Both Janet and Jim are dear friends of mine They are a warm and beautiful couple and family means everything to them Missing their son‘s graduation has been a heartache to them and their son. As for Jim‘s job, he works very hard and puts a great deal of weight on his integrity. This never should have happened and as you can see from the video, they are heartbroken and in distress. The only right thing to do is for them to get a complere refund. And a sincere apology. Time for Winnebago to step up and be responsible for their mistakes.

@@pyromcr And where is it written in the Anti-Boomer Book that a parent shouldn't spend the money they earned on what they want, and not a degree their kid wanted? It's none of the kid's business what the parents spend money on. As long as the parents took care of the kid for 18 years, they don't owe him anything more. Recently, a friend of mine's brother was purchasing a grand design coach. Fortunately, his wife was held up at work, was not there when they were completing the purchase/financing paperwork and the inspector was just completing the inspection when she arrived. They went in to complete the paperwork and right before the wife signed, the inspector came and said "do not purchase that coach". They stepped outside to talk and the salesman attempted to get into the conversation. They informed the salesman that they were not completing the purchase and left the dealer. The dealer kept asking for a copy of the inspection and was told no, they were not the client and had no right to a copy. The dealer apparently contacted the inspector, again to get a copy of the report and was informed they would not get one. All his brother has said is that was the best $500 he ever spent. I agree with your video/comments.

Unfortunately it’s not just Winnie, but basically all manufacturers. Part of the issue is when everything was shut down during Covid, the good older techs & builders (at both manufacturers & dealers) had to go elsewhere to find jobs. A lot of younger folks working on the lines today (& in repair) are not properly trained/supervised & don’t have the commitment to quality in their work ethic. And most salespeople don’t even RV so have little RV background. While there were always differences in quality, I started in late 90’s & the differences I see now among various workers/sLes/unit quality is astounding. Some folks say well they’re not meant to be lived in full time; perhaps not, but people have been doing that for eons. Also they are RVs, so Should be meant to travel down the road & handle the shakes & bumps. Cabinets should not fall off the wall after 2 short trips an hour away from home!! Just saying!!

Cheaper and cheaper systems on some and when you go upscale the parts are extremely high and difficult to access. Our last one was a Texas built '01 Foretravel U320 a wonderful unit but nickel and dimed us until we sold it. I believe a large Class B is the way to go if it must be a motorized unit but a towable trailer is the cheapest less hassle free way to RV. Start with a tow vehicle and match the trailer size and weight to the tow vehicles ability to tow. Cheers 🇨🇦

That is just sad but no offense a winnebago shouldn't keep anyone from graduation. That's insanity. Sorry you got a bad unit and they should buy it back but let's be honest about graduation. A know a wheelchair bound lady travel over a 1000 miles for a graduation.

@desdicadoric Exactly rent a car and drive up. So you aren't comfortable for a few days so be it. Just the fuel burnt driving there and back is probably the cost of a rental and hotel.

That's when I tuned out. Hotels in Indiana are $125 everywhere and car rentals $50 a day. No wonder the son was pissed.

Wow, we were considering a Winnebago for our first motor home. That has now changed. Absolutely horrible how they treated this couple. Thank you Liz for putting this information out there for world to see. If anyone has any recommendations for a good manufacturer of class A motor homes, please let me know.

I live in IOWA and always thought Winnebago was a top notch operation. I will not be buying a Winnebago motorhome although that would have been my first choice. customer service is my first concern and Winnebago has failed

When my husband and I looked for our first 5th wheel, I literally drooled over the Winnebago RVs at shows. By the time we bought our second 5th wheel, a 2016, we bought a Grand Design and a very short time later Winnebago bought Grand Design. Our Grand Design Reflection has been near perfect, but from what I understand now, the newer models have lots of problems. How sad.

If your have the discretionary funds to afford a 1/4 million dollar class A motor home, why on earth would you not make sure it is not a leftover unit from over a year ago? Sounds like you made a very expensive mistake! I just wonder what industry he is in to not do his due diligence in buying this?

I disagree with you. No one didn’t buy the new (but old) Class A because they saw water damage. They’re expensive and the dealer over-bought for inventory. Their mistake came when they didn’t get an impartial inspection. Please don’t attack his professionalism because it’s not fair.

Fly and hotel to sons graduation? Letting an RV prevent that experience?

I think he said that he could not fly because of his back. That being said, if you can ride in a motorhome, you can ride on a Greyhound bus. That was absolutely ridiculous that they used their legitimate RV issues as an excuse to not show up for their son. Their son is not mad at Winnebago, he's mad because his parents used Winnebago as an excuse. I don't blame him.

@@scottmichaels12 I agree. That point diminishes their whole case that I feel like they are just a whiny couple. The whole story sounds fabricated like they're reaching for something because the dealer did not buy back the RV.

Service most always takes weeks or months due to warranty parts getting to the dealer. Dealers say they ordered the parts and they also arrived a lot longer than it needs to. As a customer "I" was willing to pay for overnight FedX or UPS and they said "it's not set up that way with the manufacture". If the manufacturer would pay for overnight service if the RV is under warranty... That could really help the dealers and customers. Then second... If the parts are not under warranty, ask the customer if they are willing to pay for that service. Waiting for parts could be the first thing these dealers and manufactures could do to help their customers. The dealer could move more RV's in service per month and of course make more warranty and non- warranty profits!
