Hi Terri! Thank you for your service to our great country. As an Air Force veteran, we have been traveling around the world for many years. Europe, Middle East, now the USA. I will say that towing airplanes and towing RV's are totally different thought processes. :) We look back on this video and ask ourselves "What were we thinking"? I guess when you get caught up in the moment, that's the time to slow down or even stop. You said it best, we all learn from our mistakes. We aren't afraid of making mistakes, we just don't want to repeat them. Thanks for the support and safe travels out there! Best.

RVing was Pam's idea to begin with. She was watching a random KZbin video and said "Hey, why don't we go camping"? (They had a much smaller rig...) The rest is history. You are correct. She's a keeper indeed. :)

What a wonderful brother you have! And what a blessing to have availability of the equipment to get this done
@discoveryboundrv2 жыл бұрын
Hi Debbie! We completely agree. If it wasn't for him we would still be stuck on the farm leaning to the side. We were so lucky to be surrounded by great people. Hopefully, we won't make the same mistake again. We will definitely make more mistakes, but will try and learn from them. It's fun watching him piece some of his equipment back together to help dig us out. We owe him big time! Always Pay it Forward. :)

Those donkeys did nothing but stand there the entire day and Hee-Haw at us. At first it was funny, then it wasn't. :) Even my brother told us to stay back because they kick and bite.

Thank you for the support and we hope our mis-adventures can shed some light on how things happen on the road. We love the journey and we love sharing so others can learn from our mistakes. We definitely make a lot of them. LOL. Fun story, in this video my brother used to have a single wide trailer on the property there for people helping on the farm. He wanted to level out the land around that spot but I guess we showed up too early. 😀 We learned a lot from that fiasco, including always do a walk around before you pull the rig into the site. Well, if you watch our latest Branson adventures I guess we forgot to do that. They never tell you that the RV Newbie phase lasts a long time. Travel safe and we wish you guys all the best. 👍

Hi Jimmy. We agree! We never camped in an RV before we purchased this beast. We just went all in and hit the road. I'm sure a lot of people do the same thing. Hopefully, these videos (and our BIG mistakes) will help people in their own RV situations.

FYI, never leave your laundry. I saw people remove your stuff, dry their own stuff, then throw your stuff in and never turn it back on, so several coins more to have dry clothes. You really are taking this getting stuck so well.
@discoveryboundrv2 жыл бұрын
You are 100% on point. I actually had to leave the laundry room to take a phone call, and 5 minutes later I came back to see our clothes were pulled out of the dryer still wet. It's so important to realize that everyone is in a hurry for something and we should work together. The RV park only has one laundry facility. Sometimes people think otherwise. We still love them though. As for the taking the getting stuck well.....I actually can't watch the video. Lee put it together and I told him NOPE. I can't watch that. I get anxiety remembering what I felt when this was going on. That's why you don't see me hanging around too much with Lee and his brother when they were working. :) The moment he said dump truck I was like "Yep, we lost the RV!" LOL.

I would say don"t waste the money on the washer and dryer for the trailer. That is added weight and the loads are so small. It also fills the tanks so fast.
@discoveryboundrv2 жыл бұрын
Hi Tammy. Thanks for the advice. We have been bouncing the Washer and Dryer back and forth on whether to get it or not. We really want one just for the kids clothes. However, you are absolutely correct with the weight. We really don't want to add more weight to the rig since we do so much traveling across the country. That's why we haven't purchased one so far. It's still a dream of ours, but it hasn't become reality yet. (and probably won't either) :) Thanks for sharing.
@duaneclark35392 жыл бұрын
You wife is correct need to think first these are big rigs they need room to maneuver. Don’t destroy your new trailer with impulse driving. Build the spot first then move the rv in.
@discoveryboundrv2 жыл бұрын
Couldn't have said it better! Thanks Duane. It's so easy to rush into unfamiliar situations. We just have to remember that we are carrying tons of weight behind us. Soft grass, loose dirt, low branches, tight spaces, and more are all very important factors in preventing these big mistakes. We were lucky to have great people to help us this time, but next time we might not be so lucky. All the best and safe travels. :)

Hi Bryan! Thank you. This was our very first road trip to my brothers farm. We learned a big lesson back then. Know your rig before you do something dumb. Like we did getting our rig stuck. We didn’t know much about making videos either, but we had a story to tell. Best, Lee & Pam

How long is your trailer 🤔 We upsized just before Christmas from a 16 ft that we towed with our Wranglers to an Alliance Valor 40v13 toy hauler that is 44.5 ft. It's been parked and we have been living in it but the weather is getting better and it's time to start hitting the road. I did pull it about 3 hours home. The 5th wheel seems to tow better and is easier to backup but where we can go with it is going to be a Huge learning process 👍👍
@discoveryboundrv2 жыл бұрын
Hi James, Congratulations on the new Toy Hauler! Its a great one indeed! Our Rig is 43 feet. We are also 13' 7" tall. We don't do State Parks or National Parks and we don't take back roads. Low tree limbs are a HUGE issue. So are Low Bridges!!! We just dodged a 13' 7" clearance bridge last weekend when our GPS app redirected us around a major accident on the interstate. We just got ours out of warranty service yesterday and heard a story of a guy taking his NorthPoint out in the woods about 10 miles. His rig had to be rescued. I figure as long as you don't do that, you're good to go! :) Remember that the longer the rig is.....the more it will twist. That means you will have random boards popping off inside your rig. Our last video shows us putting a valance back on due to that. Wouldn't change a thing though. Have fun!

Hi Frank! We love it. You have the BEST analogy ever. It looks like you need 3 axles on that rig.
@discoveryboundrv Жыл бұрын
Hi Marcia! You’re NOT wrong! We thought those were some extraordinary axles…until we pulled into Maine with a bent one. LOL. Next rig will definitely be more accommodating. Lee likes to say “It’s all about the Burger to Bun Ratio” meaning our rig is way too big for just two axles. 😀 Best, Pam

@StevenPendleton2 жыл бұрын
Think your gonna regret having something that big! If you want to stop and see something or stop and eat, everything is going to be so limiting. Also, if you valances and things coming off the walls you need to really slow down over bumps and turns. I drove a semi for a lot of years and we have had rv's for 35 years, and I can tell you that just because you can go a certain speed like you did in your car or truck, it's different now! Picture your pulling your trailer full of eggs and too fast over bumps or around turns you will break eggs.
@discoveryboundrv2 жыл бұрын
Hi Steven, you couldn't be more accurate! We already regret getting over 40 feet. We don't take random exits, state routes, side streets, or any other asphalt nightmare that has low hanging tree limbs. Even coming to the park we are at now, we had to swerve around tree branches. We won't even talk about never going to State Parks and National Parks. We live by two words: "Pull Thru". :) I am thinking about upgrading to independent suspension on this rig to keep the "Shake-Rattle-&-Roll" down to tolerable. That and the fact our tires are E rated and not G rated. Figure, If i'm doing one, do them both. Our maximum speed is 60. It actually makes everyone mad on the interstate, but every now and then I find an 18 Wheeler that is running 60 as well. We become instant friends. The only time we got above 70 was in Utah going down a mountain and I thought my engine brake needed a break. That was a tough downgrade. Great tip. Thanks for sharing!

Kids that age don’t need phones
@discoveryboundrv2 жыл бұрын
Actually, with proper supervision phones can be of great use to a full-time RV family. Most people think of social media and games when talking about phones. However, our kids use their phone as an extension of homeschooling. It’s full of apps for math, science, reading, and more. It’s also great while we are traveling so they can keep up with their school lessons. Also, adding an extra phone to your cellular plan is cheap and gives you lots of High Speed data. Delete the social media and games and it’s a mini-computer that’s great for On-The-Go families. Best.
