It's a product of the "everyone gets a trophy" society today. Kids aren't taught to be gracious losers and to pick themselves up and try again. As a teacher, I saw this all the time. Parents coddle their kids, teachers are quitting because of behavior of not just kids, but the parents.

It works both ways, Wingman. If I call up Reeses and tell them my six year old got upset because there was no pumpkin like the picture...will they send her an apology and some pumpkin embossed chocolates? Or take some cake icing and draw a pumpkin on one, to REALLY impress her? Its just a candy bar, but honesty is also worth teaching young.

I know I’ve shared my share of pet peeves about camping I. The past. Bottom line is most of those have related to self/centered folks who believe rules for thee but not for me!! The amount of self-serving entitlement out there . . . Camping or just general everyday world . . Is exhausting & very frustrating. There is definitely a lack of common courtesy & good-naturdness . .

They never did it again, because we had respect for the other person after that!! I ordered a Hot Sub Sandwich at Round Table Pizza due to the picture on the menu. It showed it overflowing with meat and cheese with leafy lettuce and tomato. When I got it, it had two thinly slices of meat, hardly any cheese and shredded lettuce. I took the sandwich up to the counter and asked the person who took my order if it looked anything like the picture on the menu above her head. She said none of their food looks like the pictures stated that the pictures were professionally done to make the food look more appealing. I told her I understood that, but I did not care so much about the look, but the lack of meat and cheese. I asked her to have them put on 8 pieces of meat like the picture and to please add more cheese. She said they would have to charge me for the additional meat and cheese. I asked for the manager, and when he came out to the counter he apologized and took my sandwich back to be fixed (spit on). When I got it back it was loaded with twice as much meat and cheese as the picture showed. Two people waiting to order saw my sandwich and wanted the exact same thing. When we came back about a month later the picture of the sub sandwiches was no longer there. We ordered pizza instead. Was I wrong to complain ?

I had to cringe when you indicated that, in addition to being upgraded, your sandwich was spat on. I don't doubt it, but what a way to treat customers, or, what a perception customers have grown to have of service industry personnel.

That generation of parents today has failed miserably. Monsters have been created and walk this earth daily, making retail workers subject to their terror antics. They love their newfound power without actually realizing the power they have on social media. And us boomers from the 50s...watch and wonder how it has gotten this way. Boomer's parents would be SHOCKED about families' actions today. They'd be completely beside themselves in how people act today. An inbarrsement. As boomers...we let this happen with the children we had. Now their offspring are wreaking havoc in today's retail marketplace. Our parents would be shocked at what we didn't do as boomers. Our respectability is gone. We have let our parents down...

Your friend son is going to go to prison when his Tantrum hurts someone. When I was a youth we hid under our desk in preparation for Atom Bombs. A part of My HS class went to Vietnam, some died. A gas shortage and stagflation hit next. And we just went on because we didn’t know better.

Oh, the pain and suffering of those poor people....absurdly ridiculous atmosphere of sue-happy people here in Merica...I live not too far away from Hershey, PA and something most people are unaware of is the Milton S. Hershey school...Newstate Nomads just put out a wonderful KZbin video on the school that I would urge people to watch...these people that are suing Hershey are absolutely ridiculous...we have lost so much common sense and the simple concept of the Golden Rule....so many younger people are self-entitled twits that cannot even carry on a conversation...they are told from a young age that everything they do is a "good job"

My oldest Daughter was basiclly raised by my Ex wife, (As a adult 33 yrs old) She is a mess and has not ever grown up. My youngest Daughter was rasied by me and My wife of almost 28 yrs. Youngest is a grownup that has a great work ethic, is responible, and can take care of herself. We rasied the youngest and taught her that No One owes her anything, and that she has to work for what she wants. The difference between my two daughters is like Night and Day. To many of todays young people think that the world owes them whatever they want. I feel bad for these young folks that get into the real world, and the world knocks them on thier butts, They will not know how to cope with that.

Belive me, I have seen many of them in the working world and the smart ones who get what ever they want in a company because they are smart and cut throats are total aholes to others at the companies. Nasty ahoes to deal with and work with. You will find most of them in the accounting, finance, budget departments and companies as well as software engineers or anything technical. IT analysts departments are loaded with them. Personally I have never had to work with them per my type of work, but I see them from the outside looking in.

Actually, I predict the exact opposite. Most companies that get sued fight the lawsuit tooth and nail, even when the plaintiff has a valid claim. As you might expect, that's even more true when the plaintiff's case is extremely weak, as here. Thus, I predict that Hershey will fight this case vigorously, and the plaintiffs and their law firm will end up getting nothing.

Yes. Most people don't know this, but truly frivolous lawsuits get thrown out of court at an early stage of the proceedings, and the judge can require the plaintiff to pay for the defendant's attorney's fees. And of course, all the time and effort that the plaintiff's attorney put in is wasted. As a result, frivolous lawsuits are actually *very rare.* You just hear about them in the news occasionally because they're so crazy and attention-getting, and they get people riled up, all of which makes for good TV ratings and lots of mouse clicks.

No, that just isn't true. Ridiculous lawsuits like this are extremely rare. The reason why candy bars have gotten so pricey is simply because the companies that make them want higher profits.

Relax, Alan -- things aren't as bad as you think. This _Reese's_ lawsuit is ridiculous, I agree. But it'll most likely get thrown out of court, and if it doesn't, a jury is extremely unlikely to award one penny to the plaintiffs. And most importantly, such lawsuits, while they get a lot of attention in the media, are actually quite rare. It's only the crazy lawsuits you hear about. And they almost never succeed. That monkey photo lawsuit failed, and I'm sure the one about the trespasser who got killed by the orca failed, too. I urge you and all of your listeners *not* to assume that all lawyers are unethical greedy shysters just because of the occasional silly lawsuit. Most of us lawyers are decent, regular working folks like everybody else. You get a few bad apples in any profession. Doesn't mean the whole profession is bad. Remember, the lawyers who help people who purchased defective RV's are lawyers, too. 😊

Milesco is right. I’m an attorney and cases that are frivolous get nowhere as a general rule and those who file them can end up sanctioned by the court. What they do can embarrass all other attorneys, but often the cases get thrown out of court. Cases like that may be settled cheaper than fighting them, and many industries will do that, but in my experience Rv companies don’t often do that in their cases.

We are in bad times… frivolous lawsuit. Its a 1.17 candy bar not a work of art… the get rich fast mindset because they dont want to work. Corporations caused this as well by settling, because it’s cheaper to settle than going to court. Petty. Wonder what the other cases he turns down? My bet a company that had no assets like Hershey…this is all to help make the lawyer richer. My bet on settlement 10 dollar coupons for candy while the lawyer will make millions.
