Another Grammy award video! Thank you. We have a 2021 Grand Design Imagine- a year or two back GD sent us a letter for recall on cabinet handles to be replaced. Great… until we called Lazy-Days… we were told we had to bring it in for the replacement of the handles…. SERIOUSLY? Two screws on each which any body could do but, they wanted us to drop It off during camping season I’ll add and it could take up your 30-45 days…. BS on that. Still have not gotten the cabinet handles replaced. I think this boarders stupidity. These are handles not electric or appliances… This kind of non-sense is what’s out there…

What a great video! Spot on! I see these people buy the "Taj Mahal on Wheels", think they can tow it with a Dodge Durango SUV loaded with mom, dad, kids, kid's friends (and, sometimes, grandma), and a dog or two, plus all their junk and wonder why the engine and transmission caught fire. 🙄 Of course, mom MUST have all her "stuff" so she can feel "comfortable." No one reads the payload stickers on the RV, I guess. Most have payload capacities of less than 2000 lbs, which becomes 1500 lbs when you fill the fresh water tank (depending on tank size, of course). It is absolutely crazy. We always weigh our trailer with the truck to see if we need to dump some junk of it we're good to go.

We have a RV lemon industry. and it's because we let them get away with shoddy standards. The dealers are caught in the middle when manufacturers ship junk and expect the dealer to fix to sell.

Oh Allen...... I'm a 40+ year retired truck driver started my career in the 70's... I have lived the ruination of our diesel engines... by the government agencies... Sad to see and worse to live thru! All under the veil of saving the lizards and puppy dogs... But in actuality it is to extract the money from your pockets... The industry goes right along with the government because they all get a piece of the pie.. smh

I believe the RV industry is overdue for a major shakeup. But is it ever going to happen? Well, four things must be resolved first: 1) Better engineering. 2) Better component parts manufacturing, meaning better quality parts. 3) A skilled workforce to assemble them. 4) Lastly, if 1, 2 and 3 are done, this part should be assured: much better customer relations and much better dealer distributorship. The manufacturers promise you the world before the sale, then post sale, it's excuse after excuse!

I want to thank you and Ron for being who you are; the faces and voices of sound thinking, fair consideration, righteous indignation, and vocal outrage. Neither of you have backed down even under what I would imagine is at times extreme pressure. The issues pertaining to manufacturing a product that Is inferior and subsequently dangerous is very real and transcends from the manufacturer into the dealership. Both entities are acutely aware of the issue yet at the dealership level they continue to push these defected units and the manufacturer keeps rolling them out to the dealers The credibility of the big names in the industry is where the deception begins. I don’t care if it’s Berkshire Hathaway adding a level of trust to the Forest River prroducts or Thor touting itself as the largest RV manufacturer in the world or if its Camping World continues to march forward towards their stated goals of over 320 dealers by 2028 as they prey on 1st time buyers by their sponsorship in NASCAR, MLB or advertising in World Series, they all use their position in the marketplace to create trust. A trust that is simply is not justifiable. They all want you to believe that they are the best at what they do and they do a great job. They are absolutely erroneous in the cover-up and scandalous in their complicity. Solving these might actually take an act of Congress which isn’t an easy path. Solving these issues and making families whole again isn’t a local issue it is truly a national issue. At the federal level complaints can be made concerning the questionable business practices of these entities to the federal trade commissions. The FTC records and tracks all kinds of consumer complaints. If enough people take actions and file the claim with the FTC at some point they have to take notice. It’s that awareness that might open up and investigation is that investigation that will expose just how incestuous manufacturer and dealership relationships are. The NTSB also may play a part in making things right. They need to know and be aware that many RVs are not safe at any speed! Everyone in this country bas a congressman and the US senator. Everyone in this country has an opportunity to voice their concerns with their elected representatives. Those that have been damaged because of defective manufacturing, deceptive advertising and bogus promises and claims have a responsibility to themselves and others. The responsibility is to call your congressman and call your senators and tell them their stories. There is power in numbers, there is power in coordination, there is power in cooperation! Choosing to do nothing it’s not the answer. Choosing to complain on various social platforms is not the answer in of itself. Choosing to take action is the first step. If you are a bereaved consumer, for your own sake, take the first step! (please try to ignore any typos, this is an not easy Comment section to make alterations for edits.)

It is very true that often when you take your unit in for repairs/winterizing/checking & fixing sealants etc etc, the folks working at these dealerships have No Clue what they are doing & end up causing more problems than fixing. Ask me how I know . . .

I’ve had more than one RVer say, when I ask about the weight limits, the manufacturers weight limits are understated and the RV can really handle more weight than is stated on the sticker. They’re just trying to cover their butts. Stupid thinking but I’ve heard several times.

Love the shirt! I reach out to the KZbin RVers I watch and have asked several what their weights were...I was asking more curious about their truck's capacity, not the RV itself, asking if they had weighed at CAT scales....been told by several "I know my truck and what it is capable of, it tows fine and I haven't had any problems...I'm convinced many people do not know (in this day and age with all the info out there, it's irresponsible to NOT know)...I think too many have the truck first and do not want to go up in size to fit the RV....It seems an F150 can tow anything :) I'm convinced the majority of RVers out there are overweight. Look at the small class B's. Their OCCC is abysmal. By the time you put 2 people and some water and your stuff in it, all you can put in it and be within the limit is a box of crackers.

There have been many comments about design, parts and installation issues with slide puts in many rv's, does the size of the slide have much of an effect on the issue. Some slides are very long, especially in what we be considered the main living area while the bedroom areas tend to have smaller slides.

Well if you can only carry say 500# in a class A that’s food & clothes & nothing more. Why then would they make those big bays?? Maybe each bay needs to have a weight limit sticker?? I mean 2 descent lawn chairs will weigh close to 50#. Even a lightweight awning carpet close to 30#. Then start adding tools, hoses, etc etc can really easily go over limit & that’s for a week trip at best !! They lie lie lie then blame us. But oohhh the salespeople will sell you on all the c at trying capacity!! And newer RVrs will believe what they are told!!!!!

Here I am getting ready to purchase a trailer and find out that there are slideout issues. As a matter of fact, the trailer we want to purchase has a slide out. Can't they just use heavier hardware.......no that costs too much but more than likely will cost too much.😅

I think the elephant in the room is the popularity of boondocking combined with overweight RVs. Being overweight and going over uneven terrain is a recipe for disaster...
@doylemaintenance
@doylemaintenance 11 күн бұрын
The overweight thing is a cop out 1,000 lbs too heavy on a 13,000 lb rated trailer is nothing. When something is built it should be able carry twice the limit(not safely just carry it). Weight ratings are for brakes stopping ability of that weight.(not frame strength.) Take a 13,000lb trailer over a whoop in the road, that 13,000 lbs quickly briefly becomes 26,000 lbs.

There is literally no difference amongst all the RV companies in Indiana and they all produce inferior quality. Their management staffs are all the same, they all draw from the same labor pool, they use the same subcontractors and suppliers, and they all rely far too much on LCI for all their major components. Lippert’s quality is absolutely the bottom of the barrel!
