Thanks for stirring up old memories! We fished at Neah Bay in our 19' Cutty Cabin Mercruiser 1/o and slept in our truck camper about 1978! We fished the Hoods Canal and many other places and had many related activities like Deer and Pheasant hunting and living and camping in the woods! Good memories are a reward of life! Thanks again! 🙋♀️What a beautiful morning to wake up to this view, the ocean, the seagulls, the boats. Wish we could have stayed a little longer. Really excited riding through Forks, seeing the town where "Twilight" was filmed. A really good movie you just couldn't get enough of. Kind of like our Virtual Summer Vacation 2020, don't want it to end. Thank you Russ! 👍

That body of land across the strait from Sekiu you saw this morning is the west coast of Vancouver Island. Forks was named after the forks of 4 different rivers that meet there. Veyr good that you caught Forks when it was clear and sunny. They get over 110 inches of rain per year, 3 times what Seattle gets. That island you see with the lighthouse is Destruction Island. Yes, Clallam Tranist does indeed serve Forks, The 15 goes from Forks out to La Push (great views!!). If you had gone through Kalaloch it the right time, you would've see The Olympic Connector Bus operated by Jefferson Transit. Yes, the very same JT that serves Port Townsend. For a long time, there was a gap between Forks and Amanda Lake because that part of 101 is in Jefferson County which neither Clallam Transit or Grays Harbor Transit serve. JT finally decided to do a run to close the gap, making it possible to go from Aberdeen to Port Angeles by city bus.

Take the coast slowly until you are west of Bakersfield then head east thru Bakersfield all the way to Havasu. Most of the smoke blows east of the ocean so stay as west as possible (along the coast).

@davidr64474 жыл бұрын
Russ, If you stay along the coast, you should be able to avoid most of the smoke. The wind usually blows inland from the ocean toward the north east and should keep most of it away from you. The Oregon coast is one of the best and most scenic in the US.
