Ryan "Benchmonster" Kennelly takes a seat in this 178th podcast episode of Dave Tate's Table Talk.
Ryan "Benchmonster" Kennelly, 6'2" and weighing 325 pounds, was the first man to bench 800 pounds. He held the all-time world bench record of 1075 for over 12 years. He took the gold or first place at the Arnold Classic in 2003, 2005, 2006, and 2007. Ryan is the author of The Kennelly Method (2002) and producer of The Road to the Arnold (2004).
Ryan contributes his success to Louie Simmons for his help back in 2001 which would forever change his training and allow him to achieve all-time world records overnight.

Used to idolize Kennelly comin up. The early 2000s him and westside was my era. Powerlifting USA. I was a full power lifter at 275 made top 100 in the 275s. Met Ryan at a meet down near Syracuse Ny he didn’t lift and I did 650 on the bench I believe. My buddy was 308 got his number as we sat at the bar and needless to say after that night my next meet I was able to implement Cheque drops in my supplementation protocol. Thanks Ryan. Hope all is well big dawg

Seeing how just out of this world Ryan's bench strength is makes you realize how much of a freak Julius Maddox is.

Ryan had 750 raw in him in his prime and he was 100 lbs smaller than Julius. They all just did the shirted bench back then…
@BigPawTivald
@BigPawTivald Жыл бұрын
@@thrashattack2185 Yep, no money in raw back then. As I mentioned on the chat, James Henderson had 800+ in him. Folks forget just how much equipment (not gear) has changed. Julius is strong no doubt, but he gets to press with the best; better benches, better bars, better wraps and kilos. The days of benching on crap deck heights, narrow pads, bar whip etc are long gone. I wish Ryan mentioned the 1075 issues, it's by far one of the most impressive benches because it was 100lbs plates, on an ok forza bench with a 45lbs bar..by the time he touched chest, he had an extra 2" of ROM since the bar was basically a duffalo/yukon bar at that point.

I met Ryan at a world meet in Detroit on accident. My team were the ones throwing it and I was helping in the warmup area. I met Scott too. I actually looked right at Ryan and said I'm excited to meet Ryan Kennelly. He looked at me confused and said I am Ryan Kennelly. 😳 Oops! When you're already big, big men just look like your cousin. 😂
