That was a wonderful interview, because it helped me to have a different perspective on disability. As a Traumatic Brain Injury survivor (TBI) I deeply identify with this show. Now, the issue of whether or not to come out as disabled is one I struggle with daily. The issue is not about my being disabled. Because, usually I claim to simply be really drunk, because when you hear me speak, you begin to think “Why does he sound like he is doing a really piss poor impression of William Shatner, Bill Clinton, and Barrack Obama combined, is he joking or is he simply really smashed?” So I fake being drunk. Rather the issue is I am not doing a really bad impression or being drunk. Instead, I am simply struggling to find, to locate the correct words to use at any given moment. Sometimes aphasia sneaks out to play and other times it remains well hidden, locked up nicely in the hair adorned decorative sphere I call my head. Now sometimes it’s simply easier to say I am drunk, that I'm a baker’s dozen sheets to the wind, rather than to reveal the truth, that I am a survivor of a traumatic brain injury and all that entails. Luckily the Netflix show “Special” helps me laugh at that part of myself because, if you can’t laugh at yourself, then it can simply and easily get tough really quickly. Because you watched this video and are now comment surfing, you deserve a gift. The gift, of a really dumb joke: What did the shark say when he ate the clownfish? This tastes funny. Hahahahaha Hehehehehe Har. Haaar. Haaaaar. Lol

Coming out as disabled is something I haven't ever thought of as something you need or have to do. But I get it now. I got spina bifida myself and my need of having a wheelchair makes my need to come out unnecessary. I got a number of friends with cerebral palsy, and I have met even more. Its not in your face clear but if you know what to look for the tells are there that Ryan got cerebral palsy. Now of to watch the series.

That was a great interview big ups to Trevor. I absolutely loved the show, as a man living with a similar degree of cerebral palsy myselfa lot of the show felt like he was speaking directly to me and that was within the first 5 minutes of the first episode. It was incredibly relatable heartwarming and a little scary at times and I am so glad that it exists. Looking forward to season 2, Netflix get on it!

Very nice interview , just reminded me of my encounters with cerebral palsy affected people , I came across quite a few studying next to a specialized school and was a little freaked out by those weirdos with their disorderly moves and strange faces until my girl friend told me about the condition . A bit later in life I met a guy whom most assumed to be dumb on counts of his lack of expression , never met anyone that picked the rules of the go game that fast and soon beat me every time .
