This is one of those times when Ryan trying to make a concept seem really weird, looks weirder than Ryan actually makes the concept look. Imitation, communication and storytelling are as old as the ages and they're some of the first things babies think to do

I want to see the first guy to ever be a pro athlete. "Hey, listen, I can throw this brown egg-shaped ball really far, so... give me some money." "What?" "Give me some money for throwing this egg-shaped ball really far, and sometimes not very far, but still a lit-- a little bit far. And sometimes I'll just hand it to another guy and watch him get just-- just mauled by several freakishly large men." "And you want me to give you money for that." "Yeah, yeah, yeah." "Why would I do that?" "Well, because people will pay you to watch me do that, I decided." "Why would people pay to see that?" Seeing as he plays music on his phone, I think we can come to the conclusion that Thespis, the first actor, grew up in a period of technological advancement. Maybe after Ryan created the clones they took over the world and have to re-learn everything humans did, but now in a more civilized environment. Fascinating..
