The vote is for the "Jugendwort des Jahres", so the "youth word of the year", an annual vote for youth slang known for being "slightly" out of touch, especially in the beginning. The woman in the video is Susanne Daubner, a news anchor for the most known state news broadcast, the Tagesschau. In the last few years the Tagesschau has begun to broadcast the 10 words in contention and she became a meme for pronouncing the words in a typical German news anchor style, very clear and without emotion. Also, the olympics didn't parody The Last Supper, they were inspired by a painting of a feast of the greek gods.

If the reason for the warning continues to occur, an issued warning can justify extraordinary dismissal and is therefore a legally important event and should be taken seriously as a sign of possible dismissal. However, employees can also write warnings to the employer if, for example, the salary is not paid or is paid late, which also justifies extraordinary dismissal on the part of the employee.

It wasn't the last supper as such after all , latest when they brought Dionysos out. However you can't convince me that the producers just sat in their ivory tower, thinking ppl would get the whole feast of the gods thing, instead of of just jumping to the Iconography most familiar to *them*... which ppl obviously did.😂

Basically the boss being really pissed that someone pointed it out and he technically should do sth. Instead of doing sth, he tries to signal "don't ever point out errors again, fuck you for creating tasks i have to do now, i won't do it though, you shut up"

We have screens, but windows usually dont come pre-equipped with them. So you have to install them yourself and of course there is cost and hassel involved. I've tried it a few times, butnoften, the get holes, get damaged, or the glue doesnt stick that keeps them up (most are taped in) so it's more of a hassle than dealing with a few bugs a year. Its really not the bad in Germany. Depending on where you live, of course. Near a Lake or a Swamp it may be worse. Also, screens dostirb your view to the outside. And in the dark winters we ge here, they take away some light, so you.would have to de-install and reinstall them each year. But that being said, if you are a richer German and hate bugs, I am sure you have a permant screen frame that can be inserted into the window frame and taken out, so you can have the nice professional screen in summer and free sight in winter.

13:00 I think it's about parents (supposedly) being ok with their kids drinking alcohol, but at the same time being totally against them drinking energy drinks. I know someone who I think does drink several energy drinks per day (he's in his late 30s, though. But I assume he started in his teenage years or early 20s). Maybe he doesn't drink them every day, I don't know.

One Euro is roughly 2DM. Re: energy drinks -- a 50/50 mix of natural apple juice and a good, natural sparkling water with lots of electrolytes is about as effective as a standard energy drink and MUCH better for your body. 🙂

Speaking of more than one energy drink a day: In "Berufsschule" most of my classmates drank at least 2 cans of Red Bull and that was only in the morning! It had to be expensive too. I know they lived on their own, always complained about how broke they were, but they didn't stop drinking this stuff. They didn't even return their Pfand! I took the Pfand with me and got out with like 5€ a day.

Caffeine content in energy drinks is a lot higher in other countries, though. So drinking two in Germany is not a big deal at all. You drink multiple cups of coffee a day, don't you? But you shouldn't try that in other countries. I think even in Austria they can have seven times as much caffeine as they can legally have in Germany.

The meme about the smoke detector thing was translated wrong. It should be... And you get reprimanded for doing so. Also the windows the Swedish have arw all over Scandinavia. My 2 bedroom windows are open like that right now. And insects coming into your flat is not really a Scandinavian thing. I dont know who has stuff coming in but i might get a bee over the summer. But theres not a bug every month coming in. That would be insane. Had that in england though. 2 different places did i have a wasp problem. Used the hoover for about 35-40 minutes to suck up 130 bees or so. Absolutely insane.

15:38 Paragraph 20 line 2 of the German Constitution is a law that states all state power is by the people and the picture below shows a speed camera being covered by a resident’s trash can lid. This is because the camera is so close to the traffic sign that it would register traffic in the area in front of the sign where it doesn’t technically count yet. I think the setup of this camera is illegal in the first place so the also-probably-not-legal covering of an illegally installed traffic camera by someone chancel each other out 😂

That's *normal* length for a German law name. It's a bit long, but I prefer it over the American style of calling it the G.E.N.D.E.R. act or whatever. Especially since that's so often used to hide something sinister behind a positive name (such as the P.A.T.R.I.O.T. Act) Germany does have the infamous Beef Labeling Act of '99.
