In this video I will put the Ryobi 18V One+ String Trimmer/Edger to the test and give it an honest review. I will show you how to put it together, go over the features, show it in use, and give you my pro's and con's.

Thank you. This video was the only one that showed everything, from assembling the trimmer to actually putting it to use! Also your opinion was well appreciated! ❤ Great video! I’m buying one Friday.

Thank you! You are a wonderful teacher. I just subscribed. I found your review on google looking to make sure I am doing it right. I just bought it at Homedepot a few days ago. I was having a hard time getting the foot pedal to work getting the shield back to trimming. Wonderful review!

Great Review, I had a slight problem with the poisoning of the guard in relation to the wheel. The wheel on the guard obstructed the foot adjustment lever from being engaged, but I just had to press the foot adjustment lever from the left corner of it, that seemed to do the trick.

Purchased ours at Home Depot with the battery and charger last year and it does everything it's supposed to do; although we had an identical battery, etc. the price for a battery by itself is a LOT more, so for another $20.00 it is more prudent to buy the combo to alternate between the battery for when one is just not enough. Had to refer to your tutorial to remember how to pivot the head cause my Wife is the one who uses it - thank you for an excellent video, right to the point - although I did miss the gratuitous pointing to each part for 20 seconds for each and every nut and bolt on the tool, NOT !!! - always wondered why Vanna White doesn't have a contract to point to the parts.
@fixitFlip2 жыл бұрын
Ha ha! And I agree with you about the battery! It's a much better deal to but it with the battery if you need a battery. Just a a battery alone can be $50/60, so that $20 extra to get a battery with it is worth it. I just have 5 or 6 batteries already, so I didn't need it. Thanks for the kind words. Always appreciated.

Damn good 👍🏼 review, I thought the one I bought was faulty because evrytime I released the trigger the line got longer. I guess I need to keep trigger pressed until I'm done.

Thank you! And yeah it makes it go through line pretty quick!

Got an older model a few years ago for my wife and it's still going strong. After wrapping a couple gas powered units around a tree out of frustration I got the 40V that accepts all the attachments. I will never own another gas powered trimmer.
@fixitFlip Жыл бұрын
I really want to try the 40V and see how much more powerful it is then the 18V.

I have had the older model now for a few years and switch in between two batteries to get the entire front and back yard trimmed. We have a big garden and front yard and it doesn't hurt my back. I go nuts with this tool lol! It knocks down everything even my neighbors stupid weeds. X^D

I can give you a little input on it. I just used mine to clear out the weeds in my garden a few days ago. Don’t use it on anything but vegetation. If it hits any type of fence, sidewalk, etc. it will get destroyed pretty quickly. Definitely don’t try and edge with it. I used mine just to knock down a bunch of weeds and it literally destroyed it down to the nubs, probably from hitting thicker stems and the ground. So it will last longer than string will, but not a whole lot. It’s not very durable.
@jaxxonbalboa3243 Жыл бұрын
I have one of these, but don't use it for edging. I put a 7 1/2" circular (course) blade on it to keep vines, weeds and heavy brush under control. It's ravenous!
@fixitFlip Жыл бұрын
That sounds wicked!

For anyone having issues releasing the edger, I learned the hard way that it has to be running! The manual does not tell you this.
@fixitFlip2 жыл бұрын
What do u mean by “releasing the edger?”
@Sandra-iv6gy Жыл бұрын
Great review! Your demonstration is so good and simple. What am I doing wrong?! I have one of these and the string keeps getting tangled. I think the string gets longer every time I activated. It gets so long it has no where to go so it gets tangled. How do I avoid that? :(
@fixitFlip Жыл бұрын
Hi, Sandra. Do you mean it gets tangled inside the spool or outside the trimmer? (The part that actually hits the grass.)
@Sandra-iv6gy Жыл бұрын
@@fixitFlip it gets tangled very tight around the outside area of the spool.
@fixitFlip Жыл бұрын
@@Sandra-iv6gy Do you have the cutting blade attached to the guard like I show in the video? That will cut the extra string that gets fed out of the spool.

Is there a difference between the 10" & 13" ryobi one+ 18v?
@fixitFlip3 жыл бұрын
Biggest difference is the rotating head. The 13 inch can be used as a strimmer or edger based on how you rotate the head. The 10 inch can not. The 13 inch also has an adjustable sized cutting swath and is longer.

auto line feeder is a good thing until you have to much line to operate correctly.??
@fixitFlip Жыл бұрын
The cutoff blade will trim it down to the appropriate size, but I do feel like it makes it burn through line pretty fast.

Mine only lasts Abt 20 min on the battery that came with it, or the one I already have from my saw

These batteries definitely lose some pop over time. Especially if you leave them out in the cold.

I know this video is old. its only have one string, thats why you do it twice. if it got two strings. it would do less work speed.

Beware the line cutter will break off as it did with me, this is a metal cutter screwed in a small plastic post that has broken off the grass deflector, beware!!

Clearly, I am doing something wrong. I have gone through too much line and the plastic blades that come with it are broken in first use. ☠️
@fixitFlip Жыл бұрын
I used my other set of plastic blades to weed my garden not too long ago and it DESTROYED the blades down to little nubs in about an hour. So I feel you there. And yes, this thing does burn through a lot of line with the auto fill.
