Hello, everyone, it's been 5 months! 😄 By the way, in this recipe, 450g of uncooked rice is divided into thirds, so each serving is quite generous. This portion size works well for hiking, but if you don't need that much food, especially for home storage or emergencies, feel free to divide it into quarters or fifths as per your preference. To rehydrate, you'll need a total of 1050ml of water. If you divide it into fifths, that means you can prepare one serving with 210ml of water. Enjoy and happy hiking!

Hi. Will you post one without background music?

It seems that the number of viewers for the 'No Music' version of the video has been steadily decreasing. So, in the future, I'm thinking of experimenting with 'Less Music' versions of the videos for a while to see how it goes🤔🤔🤔

My aunt dehydrates pasta sauce into strips (like “fruit leather”) and I rehydrate it with water when camping and eat with veggies, bread, vegan sausages. Thank you for making this video, this looks so delicious! I have enjoyed watching your videos for years, and my cat likes them too 😊

Oh my gosh, I never thought to dehydrate my own camping food. Thank you for showing it is possible. To not have to purchase VERY expensive commercial meal kits will save so much and I can decide on the ingredients. When I vacuum seal possible sharp foods, I place the food into paper lunch bags, fold the bag up and THEN vacuum seal the food. The paper bag could then be cleanly disposed of in a camp fire.

Dehydrating is possible in a regular oven too. It just takes more time and creativity. My partner makes a DIY dehydrator with low oven temperature, oven door a bit open and a fan :D. He doesn't vacuum seal his meals but makes sure to pack things that won't go bad.
I’d love to see more videos like this ♡ I’ve been thinking of doing more meal prep but I have limited space in my fridge and freezer so this seems like a great alternative!

Re vacuum sealing, you may also be able to get one that can work on mason jars with an attachment. Hard dry items do damage bags even with professional ones

Great idea. I have the same problem here is USA. A good vacuum sealer works better than the bags but they are single use and so you create a lot of plastic waste. Please do more of these if you come up with new recipes? Cheers!

Maybe an option is to do a bulk preparation of dehydrating the individual foods and store them in mason jars or myalar bags, so when you need them for a trip, just mix up the dried portions you need into regular ziploc bags.

Checkout vacuum sealing in glass mason jars, its more easy to store and when you need for a hike, you can take the potion needed out of it and vacuum seal the jar again.. Less of plastic waste..

Have you considered wrapping the dehydrated rice mixture in Parchment paper first, then putting the parcel in the suction bags? Might help protect the bags from the hard rice.

Have you looked into freeze drying as an alternative to dehydrating? Freeze dried food items are preserved for much longer and are lighter. The options for home freeze driers are getting better these days.
@heikesiegl2640 Жыл бұрын
Maybe you don't need to vacuum them so much, especially if you are going to use them relatively soon. Maybe just putting them in a ZIP lock bag and sucking out a bit of air is enough? So it has a bit more room to wiggle? I don't know tbh. I dinhave a dehydrator but i never used it to dehydrate cooked meals, even though there are recipes i would like to try to. I think eating more healthily during hikes is important. Most tips in the net only care about calories.
@peacefulcuisine Жыл бұрын
If you plan to finish your trail food within a few weeks after making it, there shouldn't be any issues without vacuum sealing! However, if you want to create a variety of flavors and enjoy them during a single hike, vacuum sealing might be essential for me, haha! 😄
