Your answer would be a 5800x3d or even a 5600x3d if you can access a microcenter. But before you worry about cpu, you should check to make sure your GPU isn't what's limiting more FPS, especially since you are playing at 1440p.

Look at the GPU usage bouncing around 70-80% which means that CPU is not fast enough for the GPU therefore it can`t render any more frames. When you increase the resolution from 1080p to 1440p the GPU load is increasing and the CPU will have less impact on overall performance. RTX 3080 is not scaling well with 1080p resolution because ampere architecture is heavy optimized for computing rather than pure gaming. You will not always get 50% less performance by increasing resolution to 1440p, this is not how it works and it will depend a game and on a GPU.

I'll take a 5800X over a 5600X any day. 28,648 multithread and 3510 single thread vs 22,177 and 3380... That's a huge difference! Plus, with it's significantly higher multithread performance and more cores, everything thing else you use your computer for will be way faster. Video encryption, zipping and unzipping files, multi tasking several applications. Oh and if your stream and or record while gaming... If difference is huge! Let's also not forget about VR. I went for the 5800x because of BF2042. There are some games that are very CPU hungry. Those games are Warzone and Battlefield 5. Most battle royale games are very CPU heavy. While the 5600x is at same level in most games, in battle royale games it will perform noticably slower. AS you can see in the warzone test the 5600x avg fps is 169 at the end while the 5800x is 183+ at 1080p. The 1% low is 107 vs 116 and in the end the current fps is 155 vs 177. This is where the 5800x shines. And will prob will do the same in BF2042 where even more action is going on. On top of that, you're overclocking at the same time. I am really surprised that people are not aware of this. This is how I kept my CPU's on like 65degrees all the types with an overclock of 800mhz for each core. The cooler I used is an Arctic Freezer 34 Esports Duo. It's dirt cheap, but amazing.

The visuals would be awesome as would the player coding. And new cpus would not be needed. One other thing; the 5600x is made from the general silicone bin, the 5800x is from a select bin. Depends on how much CPU usage and how hard it's pushing my 6700XT and putting heat in the case. Something like BF5 does push my average CPU temp higher, usually around 66-68C. Just depends on the room temp, I guess. My thermostat is set to 75F lol. Not that cool numerically, but it feels normal in here. I'd read a lot about Zen 3 spiking to 80C and stuff during normal tasks. I've never seen that. I don't even hit 70C spikes often. I should note that I have 2x of the fans on this that came with the Hyper 212 Evo's (I have two of those sitting around). Those fans are 120mm 2000RPM fans that move something like 83CFM of air. Probably overkill to be honest. I have it set to the default fan control speeds in the BIOS which makes the fans hit 100% at 70C. But, yeah, like the CPU-z stress test and Cinebench push it to 70C. I'm not using PBO but I am using Curve Optimizer. -13 on all cores. That doesn't change temps, but it lets me boost about 200mhz higher on all core loads. So, I do still have the 142 watt PPT that's default. Gaming typically pushes the PPT wattage to anywhere from 82 watts to 90-ish watts on average and up to about 110 watts in BF5 and slightly under 110 watts in Halo Infinite. 5900x is rated at 4.8ghz peak boost but they boost to 4.95ghz stock. I average around 4.6ghz - 4.7ghz in games with curve optimizer. Depends on the game and the type of load and how it's spread out across the cores. More load, more boost. Last thing.. the temp readings I'm using are from HWiNFO64 and it's the CPU (Tctl/Tdie) reading which is "Actual highest temperature among CPU sensors in the die". My core temps are 5-10C lower than the temps I've listed. Usually 10C+ lower. I'm using an Asus STRIX B450-F Gaming II. That was another slight concern but it handles it like a champ. 2x16GB DDR4 3600 C16 dual rank RAM. 100% stable in stability tests and real world usage. lol.. and all you wanted to know was what cooler I'm using. My bad.. I can't help it.

Amazon had it the other day for $270, AMD dropped some last thursday at MSRP. I think they were available for 20-30 min for that drop. ANTonline (in Atlanta, GA) usually has them on sale for an hour every 2-3 weeks. 5800x has actually been easier to get from them at MSRP.
