@phumlamazibuko 3oo3, What you saying is the Naked truth. I mean it has been quite a long time our children being respectfully aloof hoping that the elderly my age will do the right thing teaching them how responsibly the Gvnment should be run, (I'm saying my age bcs I'm over 70 years of age) now to our shamefully astoshment they did what wasn't expected of them to do as Elders, as parents, they stole and did exactly the opposite, self enrichment they got into the Gvnment World beggars, today they are not even ashamed to be identified as billioneers not even millioneers, they are not even remorseful, they are corrupt to the core and by the look things they are so Insatiable and showing no signs of repentance. Now i 100% in agreement with the sentiment that young people must forcefully remove thieves out of power, they messed the whole country, NOW ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, YOUNG PEOPLE TAKE OVER THE GVNMENT THIS IS YOUR FUTURE.

Tessa Dooms is a gem for us as civil society and voters in South Africa. This is a wake-up call for all of us who had this biased approach to party politics. We need more civic education as a community to take our power back. The NGO sector during Apartheid always had civic education in communities. Post 1994, the ANC government changed the international donor landscape to curb the support for civic education. They knew between 1990 and 1992 that they had their list of duties on what was to be done. We honestly cant let the X be abused to enrich themselves.

A forward looking forward thinking attitude is an absolute requirement. No-one can change the past we can only build a better future by bring focussed in what we want our lives to be like going forward despite the the mess this government is creating. We desperately need our kids to be well educated and to be able to think for themselves. Afriforum's success lies in staying focussed on their goals in the here and now. A good example to follow.

I strongly agree with you Tessa, this toxic Political Stronghold we all feel, must be done away with on a civil societal level, Politicians wield far more power than they should. I also strongly agree with you, Political Leaders somehow come across as clumsy idiots, but they are highly technical guys, with even higher, technical teams, Political leaders are extremely calculating, they clearly understand South Africans are relatively stupid, unscrupulous Political Machinations, Pronouncements and Rhetoric get's the job done. I also agree with you, voters are stupid, and they are kept stupid on purpose, Politicians won't conscientize voter's, it's not beneficiary for them to do so, it serves them no purpose to do so, i agree the responsibility is civil's. Lastly, im not yet sold on the idea because,we aren't new, to black sellouts,i also don't have anything to lead me to believe, just like Politicians, robber barrons won't infiltrate these societies or their leaders, until i see this unwavering leadership at display, it will just be the snake taking a new form or wolf in yet another sheep's clothing for me, because, those currently strangling us,will continue doing so with their new proteges or stooges, let us see it at work on a small scale, before we roll it out on a wide scale.

I love Tessa but can't help feeling her plea for politicizing & reclaiming political power is impossible within a system that commodifies every aspect of life. Politics was bound to suffer the same fate of extraction and repackaging for easy consumption wherein there are insiders and outsiders. Our politics are a result of the moment within which we find ourselves and hankering for a past that never shall be is not the solution. Modern-day problems require modern-day solutions our discussion should be about reimagining this collectively and not selling an idea imagined by a select collective. This idea that we are "back in 1985" was responded to in one of the public debates she was partaking, I am disappointed that she persists with the analogy.

Lol. Let me disappoint you. I think we are kinda in the same situation as the 1994 electorate as well. 😂At least I'm not going back to 1985 though. On a serious note, I think she is just trying to point out that SA has a history of credibly switching things up. In a dramatic way. And that we won't be the first, and therefore we shouldn't think we are incapable. I do agree with you that every aspect of our lives has been commodified. i like Tessa but sometimes civil society is very disingenuous, she talks about engaging politicians about things society needs from them but EFF every election calls for society to participate in its manifesto formulation but non of them go and participate why? she talks about civil society not wanting to be politicians but head of rivonia circle Zibi which she is a director has gone and formed a political party and expect people not to be suspicious about their motives. some of her suggestions are things being done but they are done by a political party they just do not agree with. donations are easy but first lets get the middle class to openly declare which party they support without fear of losing anything. plenty middle class that supports EFF but cant say it on twitter because are afraid.

We need a non-partisan organization that will be able to reach people outside of political affiliation. An organization that will not be possibly be beholden to internal party politics and dominant personalities. The DA and Afrifrom co-exist very well with each other. Well Afriforum is admired because it grouping of thinking Afrikaners. Who amazingly, their vision over the years has moved from protecting Afrikaners/whites to protecting the rights and seeking justice for all of the country's citizens - black or white. This indicates not only vibrant intelligence but also capacity to evolve as human individuals. I can see a black Afriforum indulging in victimhood and propogating BEE and the stealing property from the South African white citizens - lots of sentimentality and no thinking - incredible level of laziness if you ask me. Add the fact that the majority of the citizens vote with their hearts you can be sure that they're going to give the ANC, which is committed to humiliating and robbing them of a bright future. You will be surprised to learn that even the most learned black person's life is governed by superstition and obsession with the past. We revolutionary thinkers who have managed to go beyond skin colour who can work not just talk and talk.

Hey, madam I can feel your passion, but I am sorry you are failing to speak to an average Black citizen like me. I dont know but your language sounds foreign and DA like. I dont feel you at all. You are not talking African politics. You are talking DA politics - you are too elitist (Western?) in your approach😢. All the best.
