The Night Witches was the name given to the women (aged 17 to 26) that made up the 588th night bomber regiment. They flew in groups of 3, in 2 seat trainers made out of cloth and wood, with a pilot and a navigator. When they got close to their targets they cut their engines to glide in silently and drop their bombs.
