We never thought that we will get some more Sabaton reacts THEN THE WINGED HUSSARS ARRIVED

Sounds like when i feel safe in a AOE2 game. And the the winged hussars arrived! xD
@nocturne73719 күн бұрын
You are absolutely right!!! Tolkien took inspiration from the Siege of Vienna 1683 and the Winged Hussars when he wrote about the Siege of Minas Tirith in Lord of the Rings. Tolkien was a keen historian and many battles in his books are instired by real historic battles.

Arise, arise, Riders of Théoden! Spear shall be shaken, shield shall be splintered, a sword-day, a red day, ere the sun rises! Ride now, ride now, ride! Ride for ruin and the world's ending! Death! Death! Death! Forth Eorlingas!

Vienna was a key goal for the Ottoman Empire, which was at war with Europe for centuries. After besieging the city for two months.12 of september 1683 the Ottomans were driven away when a relief force, including the famed Winged Hussars of Poland, arrived to save Vienna.

The Holy League's cavalry, 18,000 strong, led by the Winged Hussars (no, it was not just them), sweeping down the side of the Kahlenberg was and remains the largest cavalry charge in history. It must have been like an earthquake, and I shudder to think what it was like being on the receiving end. In essence, that's 18,000 small cars barreling down at you at 50kph.

I love that Sabaton have so many songs about polish history. Vienna, Vizna, Warsaw Uprising, pilots over the Britain and Pilecki.
@markfrancis68868 күн бұрын
The Warsaw uprising video is particularly traumatic, because you know how much worse still the reality was. I read that the polish pilots in the Battle of Britain almost attacked like a cavalry charge and we had to send an observer to say 'yes they are doing what they said they were doing '. Much appreciated
@pawelpm1008 күн бұрын
@markfrancis6886 Yeah, Uprising was horror and is still debated whether it was good decision to fight alone. And so few live to this day, to tell the tale.

Fun fact, if you wanted to become a Winged Hussar you had to be extremely wealthy since you had to get all the equipment and the horse on your own except the lance that was issued by the King of Poland (King of Poland and Lithuania), it was a special hollow lance that was very light and because of that it could be up to 6 meters long which gave the Winged Hussars reach advantage even against 16th and 17th century pike formations.

You are right about LOTR... Tolkien was inspired of this event in history.

There is a fan made video of King Theoden and his Rohan cavalry arriving at Minas Tirith. It's made to The Winged Hussars song. It's really good.
@DraconimLt5 күн бұрын
It was the Siege of Minas Tirith in Return of the King that was much greater inspired by the Winged Hussars at Vienna, and at Helm's Deep in the Two Towers (which you were thinking of), it wasn't elves, they were already there, it was Eomer's men of Rohan (in the film) and it was a Lord of Rohan and his men, cos Eomer was already there, and there were no elves at all (in the book), but you were on the right lines with LotR. 😁 They are Swedish. And that 'knee piece' is actually the front bit of a Knight's foot armour, which is called a 'Sabaton', hence the band name. Great song. Great Band.
@mudshark53939 күн бұрын
Oh, the knee thing on the S, that's the sabaton... adjusted to fit on the S, but it looks very similar to a knights foot armor. 😎

The winged hussars were only a part of the greater Calvary charge this is about. I can't remember how many it was in total, but I did some quick math and we are talking a wave of horses and men that would cover 14 football fields. I can't imagine the terror of a wall of heavily armed Calvary that size and the sound they would make.

It was one of the most important battles in European history. The advance of the Ottoman Empire towards western Europe was stopped there. The Polish Hussars were hard cavalry. Heavily armored and armed with several types of weapons. From bows to muskets. But their most important weapon was the 4.5 to 6.2 meters (15 to 20 ft) long lance. And forget about what you saw in the movies. It was a close formation attack. Horse by horse. At full gallop. So a wall of spears was coming at the enemy.

"The infidels appeared on the slopes with their divisions like storm clouds, covered in a blue metal. They came with one wing in front of the Wallachians and Moldavians leaning against one bank of the Danube and with the other wing up to the end of the Tartar divisions, covering the mountain and the plain forming a battle front similar to a sickle. It was as if a torrent of black pitch was pouring down, suffocating and burning everything in its path."

You should start reacting to Sabaton’s history channel called Sabaton history. Others have done that a lot because they have history videos for each song they make and I’d think a lot of us would enjoy seeing you learn about them.

It is because Nuclear Blast (the record company that worked with Sabaton for most of their career) couldn't make a good music video to save their lives. Half the time, when they did lyric videos, they'd plaster Sabaton's tour dates throughout the video, interrupting the flow of it. Other times, they'd have graphics that didn't match the song (for the song "Lost Battalion", which is about WW1, they used graphics that were very clearly WW2) and don't get me started about the music video for Primo Victoria (can't stand watching the video for it because of how loud the tank is). After Sabaton changed record labels, their videos became AMAZING. Now they are back with Nuclear Blast, though N.B. seems to have learned their lesson because the videos have been good so far.

Gandalf brought the rest of the Rohhrim with him at Helms Deep, including Eomer in charge of them. Edit: Also Histoery teacher, today we will learn about the sirege of Vienna. "Sabaton Fans in Class sing out" WHEN THE WINGED HUSSARS ARRIVE.... Edit 2: Sabaton & Joaquim are Swedish not Scottish (I'm a Scot myself). Edit 3: The Sabaton Icon is very similar to the Japanese Car/Motorcyle brand of Suzuki, with their Icon being similar (without the armour on top of it).

Just say Cav. I was heavy mechnized cav, there's light cav, lancers in that age were heavy cav. I wouldnt count as a lancer, i was a dragoon. That means we ride in and dismount. Our gunners go crazy and we infantry rush. The hussars didn't dismount
@robertbrunner43796 күн бұрын
Back then you had light calvary usually armed with swords light armor and would often dismount hussars which was a middle ground between lancers and reg heavy cav while mainly using lances also used cavalry swords and almost always stayed mounted with very heavy armor and then you had reg lancers which only had lances with a short backup sword as far as I'm aware
