I think it’s because Zootopia and beastars don’t just ignore how the intelligence and ability to communicate would effect that reality. The present reality or history of sentient beings eating sentient beings is examined and integrated into social dynamics and society. I LOVED THE SNOW QUEEN MOVIE (I also loved the story in general). I watched it tens and tens of times whenever I was sick, due to having a rough time with my immune system early on in my school career. That movie shaped me. I hated the main characters stupid little ferret thing though. I didn't know that it came from the same studio as this. Younger me would have definitely recommended it! (haven't watched it in forever :l I really should again).

Not only was this version of The Snow Queen released a year before Frozen, but the Russians actually already made an animated Snow Queen movie as early as 1957. The Brits also made one in 1995. It’s like Overwatch and Paladins. Plenty of things in Paladins were released before Overwatch even had a name for it, and yet since Overwatch is what drew attention to the genre, all the people that want a “free Overwatch” simply go to Paladins, and obviously stuff comes into existence at the time they know about it, so now everyone thinks Paladins copied Overwatch. Now, I’m not mad at Overwatch, I just feel sorry for the people who worked on Paladins because of all the reviews of Paladins calling it an Overwatch knockoff. There are 42 abilities that OW and Paladins have in common, and only 6 of them originated on Overwatch. Would be nice if Blizzard at least listed Paladins as one of their inspirations instead of just taking advantage of the smaller company.

I actually do like the idea of a movie where both the predator and prey are sapient, and the fact that predators eat prey is the conflict. Not like zootopia. That had other options for predators to live without eating prey, but a movie like watership down where the animals have only just started to evolve sentience and still deal with animal things. Or better yet, an isekai where a human gets turned into an animal, but instead of a magical adventure, they deal with the problems that animals do, like having to eat other creatures, deforestation, and how bad animals lives are. Animals lives, by base, are absolutely horrible. They stay outside exposed to the elements, live by eating and killing other creatures, crumbs, or disgusting leaves and grass, and are constantly hunting or being hunted to not die.

hair on furry characters is a divisive topic among furry artists actually, it's something I do with my characters, but I make their hair and fur color the same whereas some people I know make their hair look different. I couldn't watch this video without thinking about that argument of "well it looks weird on animals to have human hair" when it...really doesn't look that weird to me, or half the people making furry characters, especially for people who draw kemono style like I do.

i think the biggest problem with the movie is that the character designs contradict the story, when i look at the wolf characters they don't look like they would eat the sheep, and the should don't look like they would just passively take being eaten, there needs to be a balance, make the wolves look more menacing and an make the sheep look more timid, you can even still keep the more humanoid designs if the make the wolves teeth sharp and eyes more piercing, and make the sheep smaller and more puffy to make them look more defenseless

I saw some of this on Prime Video once. The designs really threw me. Thanks for the insight. I probably wouldn't have ventured to learn more about Sheep and Wolves without your content. You're the man-wolf. The Snow Queen was a fun movie, but not faithful enough to the source material, and not fleshed-out enough to be its own thing. nothing in the nineties was for furries because furries didn't exist then. Mickey mouse and Minnie mouse were definitely mouselike and not people like, neither of them had visible muscles or jiggle physics....they were just goofy mice and so were the rescuers and goof troupe and all that other stuff from the 80s/90s cartoon era. Unless you're talking fritz the cat but ….well...that was pretty much an acid trip with cartoon animals and it was specifically said to be not for kids on the movie.
