Used this throw in a tournament in La Mirada, CA. over the weekend (April 6th). Worked like a charm! Got 2 points for the take down. Won my match 6 - 0. Thank you!

Hi I train both judo and BJJ. If you are BJJ guy and want learn throws, do it with judo players. Even black belt BJJ players have a bad throw technique and they don't know the principles of throwing (kuzushi-tsukuri-kake). Of course there are BJJ players with good throwing tech. Normally judo players have narrower ne waza skills, but what they do, they do it very fast and that should suprise BJJ guy. I think that judo players should train a little bit BJJ and BJJ players should train judo in master level.

Old BudoMan, I do both because you are 100% on the money. I learned in tournaments that I did very well with bjj on the ground, but if someone had the upper hand with takedowns and throws, then they were on top and I was losing. Then it was a hell of a time trying to reverse that with a sweep or even get the submission otherwise.

As an old man with bad knees and even worse takedowns this worked instantly! Thanks chewy... Another one of your lessons i was able to apply at my next roll. Awesome

Nice throw explanation! It looks like sumi gaeshi to me.

I watched this video today and then tried it in training tonight. Hit it every time. I like the detail you explain about your feet position..like how you almost back step the back leg before you go down to ensure you roll onto your side..this is crucial and has always been omitted from any prior instruction I've been given! Cheers 👌🤙

Sumi Gaeshi. The throw, from standing anyhow, works much better, is easier to score with, and harder to defend, if you sit between his feet and the foot opposite of the one raising plants firmly on the ground d to push off the floor to assist in your rotating to side control or mount. Sitting down that far away from him allows a competent judoka or wrestler too much time to react. God bless and thank you for your content.

Hey chewy, i absolutely love your videos and have taken so much from them. The Sacrifice Throw is my favourite throw which i use alot. Im only a white belt but have mma experience. My question is, where is best to go after you have thrown your opponent. Im entering the British Open in a few months and im sure this would help alot. Thanks again Shane UK

i'd say side control or knee on belly. Be ready for them to try and roll away to turtle, though.

If you hang on to the arm, you can immediately go for an armbar, connected directly with the throw

Yes, BJJ comes from Judo. They aren't emphasized in the training and some schools don't teach them at all.

If the person is much heavier, and stronger than you this is really worthless. No 100 lbs woman is going to be tossing around a 250 lbs man like this. Unless it's a controlled scenario.
