This week we tour a popular tourist destination and cruise ship port in Philipsburg, Sint Maarten where we explore the famous duty-free boardwalk before returning back to our monohull sailboat and show the challenges in cooking in the galley and what living on a sailboat can bring. Lastly, we show you how to repair a leak in our inflatable dinghy with a dinghy patch and repair glue.

Nice idea with the dinghy name, I will jump right into it 😀... What about leaning it towards your sailsboats name Jibsea, like Jibcar, Jibby (little Jibsea) or Jibber (getting you to Jibsea). Or maybe another idea: "The dingh" Or maybe not lol, hope you enjoyed it 😁

Great Video. Respectfully suggesting next time you do a dinghy patch, opening the hole large enough to get your finger in then insert a plastic-shopping bag, gluing the shopping bag to the inside then put your patch on the outside. This is a permanent patch, used on our circumnavigation. We were through Sint Maarten 40 years ago with only six boats anchored in the harbor, presently cruising the Bahamas. Things have changed.

Best english yorskshire recipe 👍🏼 Ingredients * 140g plain flour (this is about 200ml/7fl oz) * 4 eggs (200ml/7fl oz) * 200ml milk * sunflower oil , for cooking Method * STEP 1Heat oven to 230C/fan 210C/gas 8.
 * STEP 2Drizzle a little sunflower oil evenly into two 12-hole non-stick muffin tins and place in the oven to heat through.
 * STEP 3To make the batter, tip 140g plain flour into a bowl and beat in 4 eggs until smooth.
 * STEP 4Gradually add 200ml milk and carry on beating until the mix is completely lump-free. Season with salt and pepper.
 * STEP 5Pour the batter into a jug, then remove the hot tins from the oven. Carefully and evenly pour the batter into the holes.
 * STEP 6Place the tins back in the oven and leave undisturbed for 20-25 mins until the puddings have puffed up and browned.
 * STEP 7Serve immediately. Ps id half the recipe for your 6-hole baking pan :)

I have a question maybe you can answer. I bought a dinghy recently and thought about getting chaps, but I saw another channel where they showed a lot of damage and leaks due to the salt water getting under the chaps and crystallizing causing the chaps to stick. Even my dealer said they’re a bad idea. I still want to find the best way to protect this expensive little sucker. Happy sailing!
@brucefletcher6179
@brucefletcher6179 2 жыл бұрын
Chaps are expensive to buy, tricky to make well yourself and yes, salt abrasion persists. I have cruised the caribbean for 23 years now and only lost dinghies to hurricanes. How? Rule 1, hypalon only. Rule 2, leave it alone until the rubber has dulled in the sun (1-2 years). Rule 3, paint with a GOOD water based paint from the rub strake up and into the interior, and use a waterborne antifouling on the lower tubes and hull bottom. No more UV degradation or salt abrasion. Rarely need to paint the topsides again for 10 years although it has happened more frequently when the wife wants a new coloured "car". I have never have had a problem with peeling (because I use only high quality elastomerics such as Ben Moore's Aura exterior semigloss). High heels are at your own risk, as are beaches with oysters on the rocks, for beaching good dinghy whelels are a lifesaver. PS - for hole repairs, always abrade the rubber (and remove the paint) with 80 grit sandpaper and then use XYLENE to clean and soften the rubber, then glue with the 2-part epoxy glue available for hypalon.
@shanehickman9204
@shanehickman9204 2 жыл бұрын
@@brucefletcher6179 Thanks for the great info Bruce. Paint is an interesting thought. I planned on looking into wheels once I receive my dinghy so I can have a close up look to help me decide what type of mounting system it may or may not need. I'm sure my dealer can help. In regard to removing the paint for hole repairs would you use a chemical paint remover or just rely on the 80 grit sandpaper?

I believe you was trying to make what we call Yorkshire puddings. If you was then don’t use oil use lard instead and get it smoking hot before you put the batter in and quickly put back in oven and DONT open the door until 15 minutes has passed. I am a Yorkshire man and eaten them all of my 50 years
