Amazing tutorial, thank you. For everyone who does not live in the USA and may not be able to obtain the exact materials used in the video, this tutorial can still be followed. My advice for the materials to make it easier is to find strapping tape and double sided tape similar to what is used in the video. The strapping tape makes the pattern come out much better and the double sided tape makes hanging the cloth for the pattern much easier. I used a heavier rubberized fabric which was a bit more difficult to sew since it would not lay as flat. I am a beginner using the sewing machine and found that all the small details about seam allowances and the flat felled seam spot on and I ended up having a very nice cover in the end. Thanks again Sailrite.

It takes a lot of practice. Just the sewing part! I like the two way tape.

Another great DIY. These videos are hard to capture and narrate, with complete clarity, so the viewer could replicate the project with no further questions.

I know a guy who bought a sewing machine to sew an ultra light sil nylon tent for his first project ever. Needless to say, he failed miserably, and I still don't sew. What'd someone say about tape?

hi guys...im not sure which to buy ..should i get a post bed walking foot or just a normal king foot?
@SailriteDIY6 жыл бұрын
A post bed walking foot sewing machine is good for tubular sewing applications like shoes, boots and purses. So, it depends on your sewing application. Most sewing is done with the flat bed rather than a post bed, like the Sailrite Ultrafeed Walking Foot Sewing Machine. Let me know if you have more questions.

How much does the fabric cost? Did you buy it by the yard?

Here is a link to the fabric used in this video, it is sold by the yard! www.sailrite.com/Evolution-Block-It-Grey-55-Fabric

@@SailriteDIY That's $110 just for the fabric. I want to build my own for fun and save money. I could just buy a new cover for less.

@@JohnDoe-bf1fw this is an old comment but I wanted to say for anyone else who sees this: 1) you don't have to use this fabric, you can use something cheaper 2) something handmade will usually last much longer so it's worth the extra money than something on Amazon that you have to replace a million times.

@@jenniferwood4916 I bought heavy weight nylon fabric to patch the old motorcycle cover. The patches lasted less than 2 years and cost me more than buying a cheap cover on Amazon. The cool thing is that I learned to sew. All the shirts I wear now are handmade. Yes, even straight guys can sew.

it is better to purchase one than to follow this hectic procedure and wasting time and money

Unless you want a custom cover that actually FITS your motorcycle rather than covering it with what amounts to a large trash bag.

Funny thing, I am currently using this tutorial to make the cover out of Gorilla Garbage bags because cheap
