To be honest he didnt do anything wrong. He gave the devs the freedom to make the game they wanted. Problem is, the Devs got infected by Anita S. and her politics. Instead of focusing on polishing the game, they focused on undoing what made Saint's Row unique in a sea of GTA clones.

I do agree, however, that another development studio should handle any future attempts at making Saints Row games, should Volition continue down the destructive path they've chosen.

As a consumer effected by inflation. I’m being very cautious with my spending habits. I’m not buying games like I did when I was in college. I wait for sales and deals. Occasionally I’ll shell out for something at launch, but it’s extremely rare. I was burned by battlefield 2042, cyberpunk 2077, and cod Cold War. I can’t be alone in wanting polished games instead of trash that will get patched later on.

You are correct to use the term. This was a buggy mess that was highly influenced by Anita S. A person who dislikes the game industry and attacks it. The devs tried to appeal to her and her demographic influence. If you removed all that and look at the core of the game, it still deserved to fail. Bad AI scripting, bugged missions, constant clipping, art that was not up to the last edition of Saints Row let alone what is supposed to be current gen. This was designed to fail from multiple aspects.

I mean, when you put the Saints Row name on that game, what do you expect? They moved away from a lot of what made Saints Row fun. I don’t think it was necessarily embracer’s fault as iirc they’re pretty hands off when it comes to the devs they own. I have a feeling the fault mostly relies on Volition itself. An example being (according to one of the devs), they upgraded the engine as they were developing the game. Just remake 1 and 2, the right way. Priced at 40 bucks each, all will be forgiving. Get them same devs back to make sure you do it right.
