I thought the exact same thing when I watched this series. However Jun did not become near as bad as Baker did. Gerry Mulligan said the reason he was able the quit heroine was due to how sickening it was to see his old partner and friend Chet Baker outside of jazz clubs begging for drug money from other musicians, sad because he was so talented and his musicianship was completely drained the deeper he got into his heroine addiction.

Great walking bassline on piano behind a great trumpet solo! I wish more pianists would employ that technique in solo or duo situations, but unfortunately they're often taught not to do so. The music typically doesn't swing as hard as a result.
