Egg toss also paints your feet and deals enough damage to 1-shot a chum to anything really close to you, it can be a nice panic button for Eliter and Hydra (definitely saved me once or twice)

Fun fact: Unlike Splatoon 2, the common Salmonids which are Chums, Small Fry’s, and Cohock’s no longer slow down on enemy ink. They still make a trail and maintain their normal speed. they keep moving forward until all their enemies are splatted. I researched again and I believe it’s just the Chum.

Salmon run would generally be 1000x better if it had voice chat Hell, probably 100x better even if you just added more d-pad communication options. Just add things like "Deposit eggs!" and "Get the boss!" and it would make communication way better. Maybe add a third one like "I got this!" and have booyah only show up between waves

Yeah, Spawning Grounds is my biggest gripe with this mode. It's been ported over with no map changes and the map was not designed to accommodate the new Salmonid bosses, so everything ends up feeling cramped. I think Glowflies suffers on this map for a similar reason, changes have been made to their pathing and we don't have the same invincibility frames but the map hasn't changed to reflect this.

Spawning Grounds is easily the worst thing about Salmon Run. The way it's designed is just the polar opposite of fun, I either wind up with braindead teammates, disconnects, or wave 1 high tide wipes. I've just up on getting the Egg VP 200 badge there, it's just straight up not possible.

As well as all the changes making things better (More boss variety, egg toss, more special waves, occasional final bosses, the general improvements to S3 from S2), I honestly think a bunch of the improvements just come from Salmon Run map design being so much better in 3 than in 2 - To the point that Spawning Grounds which back in 2 I was always "OK, this is an average quality map" when it was in rotation my response to it is now "This is the bad map"

Pro tips in case anyone doesn't know these for Salmon Run 1. Cohozuna has a weakpoint all over his stomach, aim there for higher damage 2. When you are equipped with the egg canon you can also kill the Salmon Bosses with your eggs, this helps if you have good aim and get you more eggs in general to use against Cohozuna 3. Things like Sloshing Machine and Ink Jet can take out Flyfish, I might be wrong about Sloshing Machine but I swear I've seen footage of this somewhere. 4. You can take advantage of Slammin Lids by luring other bosses under them to instantly kill them. I'm sure there's more but these are just the things I've picked up while playing

salmon run is my favourite but the biggest issue is teammates. freelance is impossible to rank up in. you have to have double or even triple the eggs of your teammates to even have a single hope of winning a game, its impossible to win if u make a single mistake as you cant expect your teammates to deal with any relevant threats, its so irritating

With the single-player all completed my entire Splatoon 3 addiction has been spent on Salmon Run. I still love the multiplayer, yeah, but Salmon Run's so dang chaotic and fun! The teamwork just feels far more natural here to me than it does in Anarchy, since I play in solo queue. The Salmonids themselves are just super fun to gawk at, too, especially the Steel Eel. S-tier designs. Here's to hoping for a spooktacular Big Run!

You mention crab tank shredding the mothership, but I personally think another special is even better for that wave. If you put triple inkstrike right under the mothership, you can get a bunch of free eggs just like with stingray in Splatoon 2. It doesn't do enough damage to get it away from the basket, though, so you still have to shoot at it a little bit.

I gotta say I feel like I’ve had more successful runs in Splatoon 3 than I had in Splatoon 2. I do need to get better at the Extra Wave though. Also I don’t know how many other people have noticed, but the language Mr. Grizz uses when you fail is generally less discouraging than in the last game. I like to think he took in feedback from the Employee Relations Department over that. After all if employees are happy, they won’t feel the need to unionize.

Personally, 1 thing that would make it better to me is if they return the same save point system from the past game to here. Getting to Hazard Level Max is only made more grindy in this mode, and it’s a bit harsh since if you just start up the rotation as Eggsecutive VP, 3 losses and you get demoted.

Saw the part where you crab the mothership, and the new stingray strat is kinda two specials now. Tripple inkstrike and wail. If you wait till its right about to the basket and use them it nets you free eggs close to the basket. My group gets 35 to 40 every mother ship doing this.
