Here’s the RIGHT way to cast a popping cork without getting tangled!!!
There are so many ways for the system to wrap itself or get tangled, especially if you’re casts aren’t right.

Popping corks can add some versatility to your fishing skill set and I’ve caught some of my best fish on them.
Just be sure you have the right gear and everything is tied up properly or it can be a headache out on the water.

So I've watched Matt's popping cork tutorial and his rod choice is completely different. I want to say he went with a 7ft medium power fast action. I'm personally using a 7ft 6in medium heavy moderate fast action for my popping cork setup like you're showing. My question is, is the difference in rods a preference or style difference in setting the hook? I will say I haven't had a tangled cork since I went to a longer moderate fast action rod but I don't know if that action is costing me hooksets.

Actually the most important element of a tangle free cast with a cork is both a smooth back and forward action of the cast. 45 degree angle of the rod is best but I’ve seen people perfect even an overhead cast. Also, depths beyond 30” are not an issue when proper casting techniques are employed. Change your depths people, it’s a very important part of cork fishing.

Too many redundant words. Not enough demo. It could have been a 2-minute video.

Video tip: your video is way overexposed and that makes it impossible to see the cork during your casts.
