@@mse1333 And/or the Tail Gate of your truck. As a professional rod builder for several decades with warranty on my work, I've heard every excuse possibly imaginable... and have experienced quite a few of them myself. Lol High Sticking IS one of THE most common though... we all sometimes tend to get carried away during the fight. Higher modulus+fast action = higher chances of rod tip breakage, for certain. After more than 2 warranty repair/replacements, I tell them to buy an Ugly Stick. Lol A high modulus rod is NOT for everyone... it not only depends on how well you treat and respect your rods, but also for what, where, and the way you fish. Take Cat/Carp fishers for example... they generally care less about high blank modulus. ~Edit ~ I tend to have more warranty repairs for Saltwater Fly rods... seems everybody wants a "Fast Action" Fly Rod for Flats Fishing these days. I understand why (fighting the wind we have during the colder months while the water is clear), but still... THAT is why I have many different weight/actions on Fly rods for various times/scenarios of the year. (not to mention different types of targeted species, depending on wind/weather, time of day/tide, water clarity, flies, etc.) As a "hobby", it can get quite expensive - but I still LOVE it. lol

I have a fishing pole racks (like you would carry skis on) on my roof rack. Which way would you carry the poles tip facing forward or backwards? Or is it better to carry them inside of m SUV?

I'd like to upgrade from my uglystik elite. I need it to be at least a 2 piece. I don't want a fragile rod. Is there a good balance between performance and durability? The more versatile, the better, I mostly throw lures, but I do use a slip bobber rig.

Having an extreme drag setting on a reel with a rod that isn't going to handle that stress is a mistake that will cause issues eventually.

I broke a expensive rod pointing directly at my hung bait. Had braid on it and the braid broke and broke the tip in 2 places. Never seen that happen before. I think the braid recoiling back thru the guides caused it.

@@coopercoming8524 when you break 12” off a bass rod it’s pretty worthless. Action is shot. Might as well use a pool stick to fish with. That rod broke into 3 separate pieces (2 breaks). I always salvage the guides on broke rods to repair broken guides on other rods. I even made a electric rod turner out of my Weber grills rotisserie, so the epoxy will level out. I’ve been repairing rods over 50 years.

I had a Berkley Rod that I absolutely loved! It wasn't all that expensive but it was a Tough Son of a Gun. I'd had it for years and was using 60# spiderwire on an abu-garcia wide body reel with the drag locked down. I was using it to catch Bull Reds at POC just inside the Jetties and there were several of us on the boat. A friend of mine was videoing our catches and where everyone else was spending 15-30 minutes fighting the Reds, I was cranking (winching) mine in. The Friend who was videoing was laughing and said "One of those is gonna break that Rod". I had my 3rd Bull Red all the way to the boat and was about to net it when suddenly, the Fish surged under the boat and snapped that rod dead in half because I was lifting my Rod tip and it went well past 90 degrees(Almost double) It also hit so hard that it spun the brake housing crimp loose from the cover plate on my Reel. My Friend started laughing so hard, he was in Tears and asked "what are you going to do now?". I told him I was gonna land that fish (which I did, LOL) and I didn't have a choice since I didn't have a spare setup on the boat, I had to "Run what I Brung". I ended up catching 3 more Bulls that day on that broke rod and reel.....So IF you want a REEL challenge, just try catching bulls with a 3' Rod and a reel that doesn't have any braking or anti-Reverse, LOL!
