Growing up in rural Kentucky as an undiagnosed OCD,ADHD, and Autistic kid, I can relate to when you said that sometimes you wish you didn't even wake up as a kid. I remember being in 3rd grade and crying cause I didn't want to go to school and wanted to stay home cause I felt so different compared to the other kids. I didnt have many friends and was very quiet and reserved and was very emotional as a child cause I didn't know how to process my emotions (still don't to be honest but I know its not my fault now). I remember thinking, as a 8-9 year old, wishing I didn't wake up cause it was too painful to go to school and to be around anyone, especially when youre called a crybaby when you get overstimulated. Music became my outlet at a very young age, with Ronnie being one of the artists I listened to most because oddly enough, I felt like he understood me, along with the others I listened to. Sorry for the little life story, this song and your reaction just kinda shook sommething in me. I want everyone to know, you are not alone and there are people that do indeed care and love you. And if anyone needs someone to talk to, a shoulder to cry on, please reach out, reach out to me if you cant find someone. You are not alone. Thank you for the amazing reaction and sharing some vulnerablilities with us.

Love watching your reactions man! While I hate trying to associate how good a song is with anything involving age, I think you hit it on the head towards the end when you noted the Papa Roach version might have been more impactful if you had understood the lyrics. This version of the song is amazing to millennials for the same reason the original was: the depth of the lyrics. Ronnie didn't have to change a word, the lyrics were always impactful. 20 years ago, millennials were in our teens and early twenties, and this song hit a number of emotional cords because the lyrics were deep and the delivery gave an outlet for anger so common in young adults. Now, twenty years later, Ronnie has used the same lyrics to give voice to a depression many feel, one which is no longer characterized by anger, but by hopelessness. The change in delivery managed to completely change the meaning of the words without changing the words in too many spots to point out, but I feel like one should be. "I wish somebody would tell me I'm fine." In the original, it almost seems like someone hoping for this statement so they have someone to turn their anger on: tell me I'm fine, I dare you, because I'm not! Ronnie's delivery, on the other hand, hits in a way that only an older, more experienced individual feels: Please, someone, notice that I'm struggling and that I need encouragement and connection. It's almost like a child, where you see them fall and look for an adult nearby; they can keep going, if only someone will acknowledge them and let them know that person believes in their strength. Finally, the visuals. The original video has a ton of young people, all feeling alienated, yet together, partying, knowing they are not alone. Here, instead, we see a massive city devoid not only of other people, but of any indication there IS anyone else in the world. Buildings are collapsing, the world literally falling apart, and none of the buildings even have anything inside them. No furniture, no signs outside, hell even the "band" is just a bunch of statues, not real people. Illustrating, yet again, the difference in how people can and do experience depression. TL;DR: this song is amazing, and regardless of which version you prefer, that fact doesn't change. Keep up the reactions man!

The ‘rebuilding’ of the world at the end makes me feel that it’s the external reality of the world vs the internal reality of the destruction of the world. His world has fallen down around him, yet in reality, life goes on regardless of how bad a person is feeling, and that ‘being alone in a crowd’ feeling can be even more isolating than being totally alone.

I also had a close friend of mine who actually did commit suicide and in a horrible way I will not say. Songs like these are powerful because you can relate and feel the pain and share it with others and know your not alone and hope that can make things easier moving forward. This is a wonderful video, Salty! I do have a bit of a random question though: would you ever consider reacting to any kpop songs? You’ve said that you like reacting to a wide variety of music, and kpop is actually just an umbrella term for a TON of different amazing genres! As long as you can get past the lyrics not being in English (most are captioned nowadays anyway), both the songs and the music videos are always incredibly well-made and refreshingly unique!! It’s totally understandable if you wouldn’t be interested in that for any reason, but I’d be happy to give you some great recommendations if you are!! 💜

I found you on my recommended home page. I have to say, it doesn't matter how many times I watch this video. It makes me cry every time. This song and video are SO POWERFUL. Absolutely amazing. I was an angry, angsty teen when the original came out and I learned the lyrics. I was a big Papa Roach fan. This song hit home even then. I had absent parents so when I was in a dark place, those lyrics "would you even care if I died bleeding" was hard hitting for me then. But now, this song still hits me hard because I'm still working on chaos and I'm not fine sometimes. Ronnie's version definitely hits us right in the gut as adults who have been here since the beginning. His version is our evolved, matured version still struggling.

Love you salty. These lyrics are timeless and transcend all boundaries. Nobody, in my opinion, has lived a pain free life. Ronnie brought these lyrics out in a way that forces people to reflect. Thinking about loss and pain isn't bad, as long as you don't obsess over it. I love metal, rock, and songs like this because it gives me an outlet and let's me know I'm not alone. Other people feel the same as I and that is powerful, I'm not just broken... I'm feeling natural things. Letting out the tears and pain in a productive way is necessary (shoot, sometimes alone i feel fine and then all of a sudden i have a thought and i cry)... Way better than shoving them down and soldiering on. I'm deeply sorry for the loss of your friends, and i want to let you know that you're never alone. Thank you for having the courage to put yourself and your vulnerability out there. You are helping people without realizing. Again, I love you salty, and i hope my comment is at the very least a burnt hamburger 😁

I've seen other people say this in other reactions of this song and I think it's true. The original by Papa Roach is a teen's rage while Falling In Reverse's reimagining is an adult's melancholy and desperation. This song definitely hit me hard because a few years ago, I was in a very bad place and felt the emotions that Ronnie conveyed so well. Was so happy to see you react to it. Absolutely love your empathy and emotion, near matching my own. Just knowing we all feel that way makes us less isolated and helps us rebuild. Take care and I hope things are better or at least you feel better. Yay, Wagyu plus sides :)
