Sailing to Gibralter I find an ominous rudder floating from the recent killer whale activity. I explore the island and find some caves and wild monkeys.

Going round from Gibraltar to Balearics/Sardinia direction is the best place for comical night radio. Continuous music, bangra, russian hardcore, you name it, immediately followed with people insulting other nations leaders with every imaginable word in their limited English arsenal. I've literally been in hysterics on night watch around there, beyond amusing.

I can't believe you found that rudder! What are the odds? Before watching the last few videos I really thought the orca attacks were largely exaggerated and overblown. Sam, I noticed that you have attached your autotiller to the tiller about 1 foot forward of the pivot point. This does not allow for much leverage and it seems to me that this configuration would make the device work very hard. On my boat the attachment point is at least twice that which would halve the effort required by the autotiller. (Food for thought)

@stephenburnage7687
@stephenburnage7687 Жыл бұрын
@@julianbatcheler9970 It's a legal requirement at sea, in Australia? Wow! Boats aren't like cars - there are no pedestrians to run over and speeds are so slow that collisions are not much of an issue, either, so in theory, 3rd party insurance should be readily available BUT for fire risk in a Marina (I knew one boat, with faulty wiring, destroying two neighboring boats). Insurance to one's own vessel is a different issue, as the claims around hurricane damage has been sky high. What is called "Passage Insurance' (for offshore passages, like Sam is doing), is another whole subject but needless to say, it is expensive and highly restrictive - they tell you where you can go, when you can go and typically insist on a minimum crew size etc. I know of several cruisers who finally gave up on insurance and found it liberating.

@@stephenburnage7687 I don't know it as 100%... but almost every thread I see on insurance someone pipes up with: 'it's compulsory in Australia' and yes not just in marinas... they do have some odd laws there. But finding it hard to find into.
