I love Joe but man that intro just is such a stark difference. It’s evident he’s playing someone else’s material. Eddie put feeling and expression into every single note, Joe is incredibly good, but it’s like the robot human paradox, the closer to the original the more you notice the differences.

I agree and I wrote this in another comment as well. I thought he was considered to be a legend and one of the best in the business but this performance was mediocre at best. It's like he had only heard the song maybe a few times in his life and tried to Wing it. He missed a lot of notes and intricate Parts here and there throughout the song that just made it not seen that great. It was definitely not good and considering that he's considered one of the best in the business, it should have been a hell of a lot better.

Sam having trouble with the hi notes. Might be the altitude. That messes with singers. Might be an off nite. Or last song of the night. Or age might be getting to the ageless.

It’s not supposed to be exact, nor is it supposed equal that of the original sound, performance, and vibe. They aren’t supposed to outshine the original. They are all senior citizens at this point and are just giving a tribute to VH and EVH. With that said, in reality, it’s pretty damn good considering how old they are and how short of a time Satriani and Bonham needed to learn the songs even after having their own music and careers to tend to.
@WolfRun59
@WolfRun59 3 ай бұрын
I’m sorry but Sammy just doesn’t sound good. The age excuse doesn’t fly when you consider how old Frankie Valli is and he still sounds great. Sammy’s hitting bad notes left and right. Not trying to be mean. Just keeping it real
@timothya.olmeda7299
@timothya.olmeda7299 3 ай бұрын
@@WolfRun59 Now why would you compare Sammy with Frankie Valli? Two different singers and styles all together. Age is an excuse, just wait till you hit 77 and see what you can do. Why people keep expecting so much from a tribute concert and compare with what took place decades ago is beyond baffling.

Sorry but Joe playing that guitar sounded horrible. He missed a lot of notes as other people are pointing out. I don't know what song he was playing but it wasn't good. It was mediocre and considering that he is considered a legend and one of the best in the business, he should be embarrassed by this performance. It's almost as if he only heard the song a few times in his life and he was just trying to Wing it. Not good.

I know the guitar player (Joe Satrioni?) is supposed to be one of the best in the biz but what the hell is he doing on this song? He's playing so much of the song incorrectly that it sounds horrible and he should be embarassed. He missed so many parts and notes that it's almost like he's only heard the song a few times. Not good Joe. Do better. Let's not even get into Sammy's vocals. It's not Vince Neil level bad but it's getting closer and closer. Jesus Sammy. Practice your own songs so you can provide your fans what they deserve. This wasn't good at all EVEN WITH lower the key or octive 1 notch. I understand singers need to make adjustments sometimes as they age and with Sammy's range being fairly high like in this song, I can understand that he would need to maybe change a few things but even so, it was not good at all. You need to do better sammy.
