So, it's pathetic to give cartoon animal people such deep emotions and intense moments, right? Hell no. This is amazing. This is exactly what made me fall in love with this series in the first place, and why I shall never give up on it. These emotions are perfect, and the fact that they aren't human doesn't matter at all to me, since I personally prefer cartoon characters since they're more memorable to me. Regardless, this level of EFFORT and CARE put into this is just wonderful, and anyone who thinks it's dumb because it's a cartoon series about colorful animals needs to take a hike, because this is just amazing. I really hope we get more of this.

Same here… This is easily the best episode so far. Animation and looks as always are incredible, the action is just mind blowing. Sweet to see more Rouge and Omega and even Abe gun commander as an adult, plus another returning boss from shadow game. I was not expecting that emotional send off with shadow thinking back to the past and imagining being with Maria. Really got me emotional, can’t describe how grateful and happy I am as a shadow fan, this short prologue series has been incredible. Can’t wait to continue the rest of the story. 🖤❤️

The moment Shadow said "That life was taken from me years ago" I realised something... The scar of loosing his best friend is relatively fresh. As far as we know, Shadow had been sealed away by GUN soon after the incident on the ARK. Right after Maria died... It might had been 50 years to the world, but in Shadow's eyes, all this time came down to moments. Which only makes it harder for him to move on. I know the timeline of the games isn't really explained, we don't know how long are the periods of time beetween the events of each game, but... How much time could realisticly have passed? A few months? A year? It doesn't even feel like it's been 2 years from SA2 to Sonic Generations in the game universe... One thing is sure though... Shadow's wound definitely still hurts, and it is definitely still healing...

Gauging peoples reactions over Episode 3. It think it's safe to say Dark Beginnings is among the very best shorts they made to date. It's soo refreshing to see Shadow's character get justice after soo long. And how respectful it's been too. Rogue and Omega get some much needed screen time, and bringing Abe back nearly 20 years later. He has more love than Elise :P. It reminds me why I became a fan in the first place. People have probably already pointed this out, but this is all actually 3D animation! The models are very stylized especially with the cell shading, so its pretty hard to notice! Abraham is the only one that's 2D animated, both as a child and an adult--I assume because it was easier to just 2D animate him for his 2 brief appearances instead of making two new models. But everything blends in so seamlessly its hard to even notice everyone else isnt 2D animated too. Ive never seen 3D animation look so seamlessly like 3D before, even though there have been attempts. And they did it FOR FREE, ON YOU TUBE
