Thanks alot Sensei...I just tried that exercise, and tore the damn railing off of my terrace. Now, my land lord says I'm now being evicted for being too violent...so now, I'm using him as my Uchikomi uke. Well, gotta go now. I see blue and red lights downstairs, and I hear someone at my door yelling "Police, open the door". 😁👍 Love your videos... Be well, stay Judo healthy, and please come bail me out.

My uncle tought me judo. We used to go for runs holding our judo belts. Every so often we'd sto and would use the belt to do uchi komi against a tree. Then run on then rinse and repeat. Years later I bought him bands. I saw him use them once, then I noticed he was using a belt again. When I asked him why he said bands will never be as good belts, also if they were good enough for Masahiko Kimura. They were good enough for him. I've been a brown belt for 15 years. When the 1st lock down happend. My uncle called me and said, "you can now ho for your black belt, but start training now." Since then I have done uchi komi against the tree in my garden. Worse the ground under the tree, stripped the bark of the tree Nd worn through 4 belts 😂😅😂. Its actually strangely relaxing

I'm wanting to get into judo and I really like how this works, do prefer the belt being at a certain height?
@SampsonJudo4 жыл бұрын
Chad Knowles just below the shoulder is good so you get the upwards pulling movement. Shoulder height you will just get the forward pull and above shoulder height doesn’t really translate to judo.

Do you prefer a belt for uchikomi rather than bands? I use bands, but I imagine a belt provides more realistic tension; feels a bit more like there's "weight" facing you.
