Thank's for your humorous, "Mutton-Dressed-As-Lamb" review! You are spot-on with your overall comments about Model Railways as a Hobby in general. I became "Addicted" to the hobby just three years ago, and yes, this can be an expensive hobby - if you don't control your spending!! I think Hornby Class 4F with TTS Sound represents good value for money, given what I have paid for new and second-hand models from retailers and on ebay!!! An interesting video Sam - keep up the good work!!!!

haha thanks Clive, glad you liked that! Yep I'd agree with that - we've definitely seen worse from Hornby! Thanks for watching - Sam :)

An Oldie but goodie. :) I enjoyed the last review of this engine, and I've enjoyed this recent review of the engine. Those sounds for that engine are actually very incredible, and help make up for what it lacks in external detail. Now if Only Bachmann had the TTS sound in their 4F without a ridiculous price tag, then the Hornby 4F would be in trouble. LOL!!!!
@SamsTrains5 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot Chris, glad you enjoyed it! That would be great actually - if only Bachmann would come up with a budget sound system! Thanks for watching - Sam :)

Excellent video of the Hornby LMS 4F with TTS sound Sam 👍 I enjoyed my visit to the Warley exhibition at the NEC yesterday and I bought a two wagons from Oxford Rail. Shame we didn’t get to meet yesterday as I’m a big fan of your’s and I was bit disappointed but oh well, maybe next time. I think that TTS 4F looks nice, but it is basic as it look more like a Railroad model with the motor can be clearly seen between the boiler & running plate.

To be honest it isn't a bad model for a old Airfix design and I am guessing it was slightly retooled to make it slightly more detailed. A similar model that is a old Dapol design but is still pretty good looking for its age is the LMS pug. Hopefully I can find some pretty good bargains tomorrow at warley show.

It is 41 years old because I’ve got a 1978 Airfix Tender drive one . But it’s a fair enough loco . It looks like a 4F and Hornby are at least delivering value for money including TTS sound on this , compared to Bachmann who just rip you off with high prices . There is a Bachmann model which from memory retails at about same price as the Hornby one but of course not DCC or TTS Sound . From a distance can you tell the difference?
@SamsTrains5 жыл бұрын
Blimey Russel, quite an old one then! Yeah it's fair enough - glad it wasn't more expensive though! The difference between this and the Bachmann version is huge - in both detail and price! From a distance is different, but then again - a hand drawing could look just as good from the right distance ;) Thanks for watching - Sam :)

The old Airfix/GMR loco ( I have 4454 ) is actually quite a good runner and puller, considering the tender drive with plastic wheels and traction tyres. PS, you can pick them up for about £25 on Ebay.

Hey Sam, do you think it would be possible for Hornby to start selling there railroad range locos for 40 quid and under? The only reason my fleet is so small is because I could not afford it. I would buy a few locos a year for 40 pounds. I just do not see why models that are low detail and have been around for years being made in China, are being sold for over 40 pounds. In the US I can get a brand new train set with 9 pieces of rolling stock, a 4-6-4, track, controller, and various other accessories for $100. And that model had some good detail considering it was a starters model.

Hi sam I’ve only been watching your older videos so Apols. In advance if u are now dcc .... question Does the sound from dcc come from the engines or the android / computer device ? The sound from the loco was great... question can /are you running dcc engines on dc track if so I suppose it’s a good idea as you don’t get the potential hassle ,maybe , from being completely dcc But you can get some of the benefits ? Ps sorry about all the stupid questions colin
@SamsTrains5 жыл бұрын
Hey! The sounds come from a speaker inside the loco (or the tender, more specifically), really glad you liked the sound! Yes these are DCC only, but I switch from DC to DCC quite often! Thanks for watching - Sam :)

@@SamsTrains hi wen u say u switch between the 2 so it is pos to run the dcc trains on dc ? im getting a little confused but i guess ill try to soak up as much info as i can colin

Are you planning on doing more remakes of your old reviews in 2020? If so, which old locomotives? I want to see your Q1 from Hornby in BR Black (unweathered) and possibly a remake review of your A1 Tornado in BR blue.

Yes! I'm hoping to update all of my old reviews - or the ones that are still relevant at least! Thanks for watching - Sam :)

Just noticed something: didn’t Hornby use the 4F to make their James model but with an extended footplate and added pony truck?
@SamsTrains4 жыл бұрын
Not quite - they used their Deely 3F, from the tri-ang days! Thanks for watching - Sam :)

Hi Sam I just wanted to suggest a very expensive model though if you want it I would consider you buy it as soon as possible because the price of it is going up It is the Hornby live steam mallard It works on real steam heated up in the tender

Great video Sam I love 0-6-0 locomotives the Q1 being my personal favourite. I'd like to requests loco for you the PRR T1 it's an ﹰAmerican locomotive and it's probably got the most unique streamlining on any steam loco I know you probably wouldn't get one for cheap but they're well worth it
@SamsTrains5 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot Ben - I love them too, especially the Q1! I would love one of those! :D Thanks for watching - Sam :)

Hi Sam, I'm amazed that you don't have a 'full' sound loco, given your rather massive collection! I would recommend them, they have plenty of features, depending on the loco/decoder. Hornby have done a few when they first started with sound, which can be decent value.... Also, do you still do loco servicing/maintenance? All the best, William :)
@SamsTrains5 жыл бұрын
haha yeah - I guess I'm too tight for it! I certainly will have to try it though! :D Thanks for watching - Sam :)
