Thank you so much! I bought a used 5076 that had a bulb replacement only one year previous. I was disappointed with the picture quality just as you described. I followed your step by step on the mirror clean ups and woo-lah AWESOME PICTURE restored! The picture is still slightly more out of focus at the top of the screen and clear as a bell at the bottom. Are there any quick tune fixes for this ?

Thanks so much for your detailed video. I had already replaced the lamp (after 12,000 hrs.!) and Samsung had repaced my DLP chip cause of white spots, even though it was out of warrenty, but the tech they sent out did nothing about cleaning the optics. The picture still looked like crap. Now it looks like new! Question, the 3 screws with springs under them look like they should be some kind of alignment adjustment, but are they? Should you just tighten them all the way down? Thanks again!

AMAZING tutorial, my wife and I followed your steps with stunning results! We have a separate problem that we noticed with this TV we recently purchased on Craigslist: There is "mold" between the two screens of the TV that show up as black spots against the picture. We detached the front of the TV, and tried to clean the screens however they are glued together. Is it possible to take these screens apart, clean out the moldy areas, and re-tape the screens back together? Will this have an undesired affect on the screen? I am not sure if they are glued together to stop them from shifting, or because there is a chemical in between that cannot be touched. Thanks!

3 screws with springs are just to keep positive pressure on the DLP chip. Just tighten them till they barely bottom out and thats it.

Awesome video!! I have two of these, similar models, and I just cleaned out all kinds of dust in part of the light tunnel and adjusted the focus. Some how it got blurry and adjusting the focus totally fixed it, but introduced major dust into the area of the focus ring. I just opened up that part and used compressed air to remove the dust. Took a while for me to find it, I was taking apart two other areas of the light tunnel before I found the right one ;)

Great video! Helped us clean up a HLT5076. Just a quick question...this TV has major sagging in the picture. You mentioned the screws to adjust but if you can give more detail on where those are located that would be awesome. You said they are on the back of the TV but I have fooled around with every screw back there and nothing seems to work.

That second mirror makes it handy to adjust, but it also collects a lot of dust. Speaking of focus, do you know if the Toshiba DLPs have any kind of optical focus?

Is it a DLP set? sounds like a CRT type with a vertical retrace cap failing and a weak crt. If it is a CRT TV check the caps around the vertical output IC and set the G2 and drive controls.

cleaned out my 83 inch mitsubishi just bout it from some guy picture was hazy cleaned out all the dust and cleaned mirror and lense and boom picture looks brand spanking new and clear crisp 1080p looks great and PS4 looks amazing thanks for the info great video

Great video, detailed and nice info.. Just one question.. My screen is tilted.. If I have a straight line on the bottom of the screen, it's down about 1/2" - 1" by the time it gets to the other side.. I read to remove the plastic caps on the back on the DLP chip board and adjust it.. I have found the screws.. But not sure how to actually adjust them.. Any help is appreciated...

I just bought one of these used and after closer inspection at home now it has a slight ghost image and hazy/dim (will clean as directed) but my biggest concern is the screen seems to have gotten knocked around during the move (2 hour drive in pickup) the black bar on the bottom is almost smiling at me and it's unbearable. Can this be adjusted with the screws like you said at the end or do I need to remove the frame and align it inside? Please Help! Thanks!

to adjust the focus on a Samsung dlp, do I remove the heat sink in order to be able to adjust the focus ring? your video gave the "tip", but I cannot seem to turn the focus ring. I am trying with the heat sink in place while the set is powered on.

hi, i liked your video. my problem is. after hours of watching or high hd use. my picture starts to lose color then starts flutering and shuts down. someone said it was the little plastic swith and just tape it down. it worked for a while, i also have 2 small fans. one on the side where my bulb is and one at the back bellow the power cord.this model is HLT4675SX/XAC which i can't find listed. finnaly sometimes it works longer and shorter. can you help???

My screen got better doing this but its out of focus, how do i adjust this with NO RISK of shocking myself because I HATE that feeling. Also on the bottom of my screen and slightly on the top it curves. when i open the start menu it goes from the left to the right and then straight for the top half

I find it strange that there seem to be a large number of Samsung LN40A330J1D and related models of LCD TV's that have a very similar problem to this, I was just given one were the picture gets washed out after about 10 minutes. The only thing I can think of is something heating up and going bad on the main board.

The DLP IC is not inserted or aligned correctly. The alignment is very critical.

unfortunately there is certain amount of over scan built into these sets, you can not get a true 100% view area scan, the best you will get is approximately 93%-96%, there will always be some of the image lost over the edge of the screen. Sorry.
