Thanks so much for this! We had what I can only describe as an ice dam that had accumulated near the auger piece, to the point where the ice bin wouldn't even go in all the way. This helped us get it un-jammed. It's absolutely ridiculous that Samsung doesn't say in the manual or on the website anywhere how to do a defrost. There's a label on the freezer drawer that I **think** has instructions for a basic defrost, but it's illegible after having our fridge for a couple years.

Thank you for your assistance with this. I tapped my corners over and over, above the line nearest to the corners, nothing happened. I did turn off the red switch and wait 1 minute. Booted back up, tried again. Tapping got no where. Doesn’t appear to be any other way to get to the main function? Maybe I’m not tapping correctly? My ice maker had a little frozen at the front-bottom but that appeared to be the only spot. It’s making ice very slowly and small pieces. Not sure what to do from here.

Make sure you’re in the fridge manager. It can take a few tries and can get frustrating.

It’s a defrost for everything, that’s why you don’t leave it on.

Run the defrost cycle for a bit. You can also call Samsung and see if they will replace your ice maker, they replaced mine after it froze up again and I didn’t have to pay for anything.

You might have to call Samsung. If it’s a known issue, they might fix it for free. My fridge is 3 years old and they replaced my ice maker and the main board at no cost.

Don’t really know but you should have ice within an hour or so. Make sure you turn the ice maker back on or make sure it’s not off in the settings.

Mine has a decent block of ice. We used our fridge for about a year with the ice maker and then moved into a rental that had a fridge so we just used it as a fridge but no ice maker and then after about a year tried to hook up the water line and start using the ice maker. Do you think the hose retained some water and it froze over that year? I am currently running this defrost now but should I keep it running until the ice is completely off the ice maker?

Hi, our family hub freezer isn't functioning as it should. It is warm inside, the temperature on screen is -19 but the actual temperature inside is about -7.

@@densvenskaelinbella4499 Try doing a full shit down of the family hub. At the top of the right side door, there’s a little plastic cover and there is a red switch inside. Turn that off, wait a few minutes and then turn it back on. See if that works but if not, you might need a tech to take a look.

I didn’t see any but just be sure to turn off the defrost after about 10-15 minutes. The ice maker defrost pretty fast and I’m not sure if the freezer will defrost if you leave it on too long.

I’m having issues with my touch panel that dispenses water and ice. The ice works fine but the water isn’t coming out at all. The water and ice switch both lights up on the dispenser at the same time, it’s suppose to light up one at a time. There was a short period where the dispenser automatically locks in the middle of me getting ice! I have to go into the touchscreen and digital unlock it.

@@nhic.5274 Have you tried unplugging it for a few minutes and then plugging it back in? Also, top of one of the doors on some there’s a small panel you can open and there’s a red switch. This turns off the front panel and then you can turn it back on after a few minutes. Worth a try.

A tip when the touch stops working on the lcd, even with the reboot.... Plug a mouse into the USB port and you can use it as a pc, without having to completely replace the lcd and spend hundreds of dollars.

Didn't work for me, left in defrost mode for 12 hours and ice maker is still frozen. Seems like I'm missing something here. The defrost didn't seem to be working at all.

Call 1-800-SAMSUNG and they will replace it and the main board for free. Mine acted up again and I called, they came out a few days later and replaced it. Didn’t cost me anything.

If the Engineering mode is not popping up (mine wasn't either) just hit the red switch on the top of the right side door that he shows in this video and wait 60 seconds before turning the switch back on. Just like phones, sometimes the screen just needs to turn off and on again to work properly.

Try defrosting and resetting the ice maker. There is a small button (top right) of the ice maker. Just press and hold until you hear the chime.
