Completely agree - I honestly show up just for David Pierce and David Imel. It's not just their knowledge, it's their passion and lived experience. Both have a natural ability to communicate from living deep within the tech world with intension. They both give the sense of "I love my job and am super lucky to do what I do. But my god, look at this monstrosity"

They made a watch with a larger body that just so happens to be squared off but still kept their natural circle screen these reviewers somewhat sound like haters though I'm giving them the benefit of doubt but I'm not an Apple fan by any stretch of the imagination and even I thought at the time with the bigger screen that the Apple watch ultra was kind of cool what I purchase one no but can I respect it Yes they're just explaining about nothing but they're entitled to the MP

Always love watching you guys discuss tech news. I think you might be wrong on the samsung watch ultra. It's a revamped samsung galaxy gear sport watch. Remove the orange bands and to me it looks nothing like the apple watch ultra. The buds i agree look alot like the apple pods.

Exactly. Same for the buds. They look nothing alike but it's the idea that they added a stem alone makes it look like they copied apple but that's like saying tesla copied ford for having 4 doors.

It's actually quite incredible how 3 tech journalists can be so impartial, actually wow. More than 1 hour of simply bashing Samsung with preference for Apple. The buds are nothing like Air Pods, there just also have a stem now. The watch ultra is orange too, yes, but pretty much everything else is different. And remember that the "Ultra" name actually Apple copied from Samsung a couple years back(?) I get that the comparison is ok, but it's so easy for these guys as a channel to definitely align themselves to the most ordered company on their home market of the USA, when most of the rest of the world doesn't

Oura says the index finger is most accurate, but mine is on my middle finger and it works great. Its never felt like the data doesn't align with real world experience or other trackers if I'm using them. Their faq says ring and middle work as well, and you should just avoid fingers where the base is narrower than the knuckle. Idk if I'd replace a wedding band with it, but it does double as an ace ring for me

IMO this watch really missed the mark on design. Taking inspiration from Garmin would have been WAY better and people probably wouldn't have even pointed it out. The other thing is no water temp/depth/current. Missed a whole segment of adventurers there and it makes the AW Ultra feel like it really went the extra mile.

As a watch lover, I really like the design of the Galaxy Ultra Watch. It reminds me of a Hermes H08 or a Bell & Ross watch which I love their designs. Anything that looks less like a computer on my wrist is a winner.

Many fitness watches (Garmin, Suunto, etc.) have batteries that last as long or longer than this ring. They may not be ideal because they are on your wrist, which is a rough spot for accurate measurements, but it can stay on far longer so I don't think that battery life is a real win here vs fitness trackers.

I think Samsung has slowed the development of its flip phones to support major updates/releases every 2 to 3 years. My reasoning being sales volumes of foldables still trending significantly lower than conventional smartphones

Samsung had the title of ultra long before Apple decided to make an Apple watch ultra with their phones Samsung simply adapting the word altered to their watch and adding another product to the lineup is natural to their evolution where Apple at the time when they made theirs just needed something different

Honestly I wanted to give Samsung the benefit of the doubt so waited for the presentation before ordering a new flip. Anyways I ordered the Razr+ 2024. I hope theyll actually make that outerscreen useable because locking it down to widgets is insanity.

Love the Vergecast and the team but for once, I think the samsung(android) was just way too obvious this time. Companies copy each other all the time and while I might just be too old, am I the only one who thinks that this watch ultra copy hullabaloo is just too much. Samsung has had the ultra line on their phones years before Apple "copied" it on a watch, samsung has had this squircle watch face on their older watch models, Samsung has used the orange band on an older watch model years ago and suddenly since Apple had a watch ultra a couple of years ago, samsung now copies them???? Just my 2 canadian cents here.
