Many people stay in bad marriages because of the shame of failure as well. What I have noticed over the years is people are lacking more self-control than ever. The blame of their bad choices are focussed externally, they don’t take responsibility for their choices. That combined with a lack of morals... we are doomed as a society. This is a very insightful and well explained video, thank you!

@@joanlynch5271 There is no such a thing as a "Liberal Family" because in reality men and women have not stoped getting together. The reality here is "Marriage" is a contract controlled by the state, and the Democrats in the state have forced both genders to navigate around the garbage they have artificially erected in Law. The answer seems simple to me, crack down on Social Democrats/Communist/Liberals and eradicate them out of positions of power.

I absolutely can relate to, and understand, much of this. I have lived through the stifling fifties, and somewhat stifling sixties; and then came the seventies awakening. Now - the two thousands! It seems as though anything goes these days. I would love to have been a financially independent woman. It was not very common in my day. Women were kept/pushed down (suppressed) in most instances into a subserviant role. Even my own father planted the subserviant seed into me. "Oh no, you won't be going to university like the boys. It's a waste of time and money to send a girl to university. Girls get married and become housewives." I kid you "not". He actually said this to me as a young child, and I have always remembered it. This was the prevailing attitude of the time (1950's/1960's) amongst many men. Having to depend on someone else pretty much for your very exixtence can be very stifling, demeaning, unsettling and destabilising, let alone demoralising. The person with the money has the power in a relationship; and often can and does (not necessarily always) treat the the financially dependant person however they wish. This has certainly been my experience; and from my observations, is still happening in the present. The past was no exception - even worse, as most women had far less power and opportunity. Why utube would pull any of this down is beyond me. Don't they like the "truth"? of this. Spot on in my opinion.

You are 100% correct here. As a high value male in my early 40's and dating, most women I date do not want or need to be dependent on me. Most of these high value women make six figures or more per year and are able to maintain their looks well into their late 40's or early 50's. The Alpha vs Beta (male) debate has been too nuanced by so called PUAs and insecure men trying to think they know how to act to attract some of these women who most likely have no interest in them. The KZbin 'manosphere' is actually doing more damage to these men than society and sadly, few understand it. Thank you for shining a FACTUAL light on these issues.

Most modern women want beta males so they can control every aspect of the relationship and have a submissive orbital spouse. Currently, women are responsible for earning a primary household income, housework, and child-raising duties. Better to have a nonargumentative beta male to assist in their modern overabundance of responsibilities. What's astounding to me is that it seems many modern women prefer more of a traditional wedding when marrying. For example, the father walking the daughter down the aisle and going on to take the man's last name. However, within the dynamics of the marriage, the modern woman wholly "owns" the beta male husband while dominating the relationship. I wonder if and when the traditional structure of the marriage ceremony will transition. I think many women continue with the wedding traditions because they're conditioned to do so through marketing and desiring a fairytale wedding. They just don't question it.

However when all is said which is not possible the face remains and you know this the strength of a society depends on parents creating a loving secure safe family to grow up in. Unfortunately you did not experience this and you never raised a child. There is no substitute for a loving wise mom and dad period. We are vulnerable creatures when we are growing up and need security within our family. Take Care Sam. P.S. I have quite a story to share with you re the narcissist. Thank you endlessly for sharing your wisdom with us mere mortals. With the year slowly coming to a close, and Thanksgiving on the way, I am immensely grateful that the universe, determinism, the mixture of a logical curiosity following a near-deadly entanglement with a narcissist combined with pure luck, put your channel on my radar this year at the inarguably darkest time of my life. The mere fact that you choose to live and inspire despite your intimate knowledge of and experience with mental illness and your view of most of them as 'incurable,' and your generally objective outlook on life (and how cruel most aspects of existence are) keep me going at my lowest of lows. Thank you for all that you do for your own satisfaction which coincidentally results in our 'enlightenment'.

It's actually pretty amazing to observe what most men have descended into. Women on the other hand have ascended into the driving force of the society. Men largely are rendered defunct by the society and all the previous culture of empowering males has switched to empowering women. Men have become these withdrawn shells that engulf themselves in a world of technological fantasy and food. Meanwhile, you have more women going to college and more women getting hired into middle class jobs. Not surprising that white women choosing to date non-white partners is increasing.

Dr. Vaknin, despite all that you have identified in your content, is there any hope for the future generations to change what is happening today with marriage and the inevitable rise of malignant narcissism? Will we see a return to the traditional way of family values and cultural/community service? I am of the opinion that societies with too much freedom of choice are doomed to fail and are to be replaced with tradition by nature. If you have any specific videos or articles regarding solutions to this, could you point me in the right direction? Thanks for all that you do.

One thing everyone fails to take into account in comparing the past to now is that of medical care, especially in birthing. Women (and many children used to die in childbirth), meaning women were of far more value to men than children (losing children was common)... it was women and children first in that order... this mode of thinking is now obsolete; changes in the roles were inevitable. The self-sufficient lifestyle is better, other than the lure of conditioned emotional belonging women provoke in men through sex, men have always been chasing that freedom for themselves. Women may struggle with chasing the same self-sufficiency, especially as government provision/ protection becomes diminished. Looks like humanity will find out over the next few generations.

You don’t have to give up the family part. There are still women who are feminine and prefer to be homemakers. Not many, but I would not suggest a “harem of women”. You don’t want a harem. You want that one woman that will be your wife.
