I went to Florence a couple months ago and Antico Vinaio was immediately on my list of places to go amidst all the other amazing sites. That goddamn sandwich did not disappoint. Holy moly! We literally do not have anything like that in the States, and I'm happy they've expanded to at least NYC. Amazing.

Looks excellent. Right away, the bread reminded me of the pizza crust made in Rome, most notably at Bonci. Looks to me like Roman pizza crust sliced in half and stuffed. Those ingredients all sound great to me. I wish there was something like that in my town.

Great review. Your right the sandwiches/panino are certainly one of a kind authentic Roman offerings at this place. I still say legendary Brooklyn deli “Lioni’s Italian Heroes” on 15th Ave in Dyker Heights is the gold standard for Italian-American classics. Great array of offerings, high-end ingredients and the place reeks of Brooklyn attitude inside.

I didn’t know you did Italian delis. There are a bunch of legendary salumeria in NJ. I’ll always take high quality ingredients in lesser quantities over mass-produced factory meats like Boars Head.

I review Italian food from time to time...sandwiches, pastas, etc. Once every few months I'll do something other than pizza, but I only review Italian food because I know it well. Jersey is so underappreciated.

I ordered the exact same two sandwiches when I went lol. Also loved the Boss sandwich, that truffle cream is unreal! I had no problem with the amount of meat myself, since the bread is so light and airy the sandwiches felt nicely balanced the way they are. But I agree that tomatoes would add something.

That same storefront used to have an amazing burger place. Union Square Burger. It caught my eye because it had rave reviews. The city closed them because the kitchen didnt have a good exhaust. One example of a great place forced out of business.

@@user-or6yn8pm3c Ever since I had burgers with dry aged beef I can't enjoy a hamburger anymore. Unless it's from a prominent steakhouse or BBQ joint that uses their dry aged steak for the burger meat. I rarely eat burgers, perhaps 4 times a year. I am no longer a vegeterian but I still limit beef.

you have to watch with prosciutto's delicate flavor, if you overload the sandwich you won't taste the prosciutto for me the prosciutto with the pecorino on the bread, maybe a little olive oil, and that would be it

I don’t understand the point of reviewing a Florentine sandwich and then complaining that it’s not the same as the kind of sandwich you’d get in Brooklyn (I.e stuffed full). Sometimes less is more.

I think the sandwiches are delicious, but they're very different from what you'd get in other parts of the city. That's all. People here want to those meaty monstrosities. I love that they don't mix the meats. I'll never mix mortadella with a salami, or whatever, etc. I agree less is more, especially in this case. I do think they could put a litte more meat though.

Hence.the.wackness. I did have high hopes for this place but even their spreads were pretty forgettable. A couple of hrs later of eating that sandwich I already forgot what it taste like. Taste buds never forget an amazing experience.

Anothet italian food that cost more than 3 times in New York. Original location in Florence has 6 types of sanwiches at u$s8. Some of those, offered in ny locatión at u$s20+tax+tip. u$s25!!!!!!!!
