Hi everyone and welcome back to my channel.
Welcome to another National Final Video, today we are looking at another one of the big five countries... ITALY!
and the potential tracks that could represent them in Rotterdam 2021
That's right... Today we are looking at San Remo, the biggest music festival in Italy and the 13 potential representatives and their original tracks of night 2.
But what I really want to know is.... What do you guys think? Do any of these song stand out to you?

About Extraliscio: the guy with the skeleton mask is dressed like that because he is the frontman of a band called Tre allegri ragazzi morti (Three happy dead boys). He always performs like that, never showing his face, it's not a matter of staging. And for the sound, they are playing Liscio, which is a typical genre from Romagna region, this is why it sounds different :)

Fact of Sanremo: Irama's song is registered, because is in quarantine, because one of his collaborator is positive to covid-19. So Rai, aired the registrated song when he sang for rehearsals. And he still higher than the most of the live competitors (in the scoreboard)

I would love love love for them to send Måneskin to Eurovision, it is one of my absolute favorite song at the moment. My favorite of any national final this year, but I have a feeling they will send a moderen bop/pop song or a beautiful ballad instead.

My favourite song this year is Madame’s Voce: I understand it can be quite difficult to delve into especially for non-Italian speakers, but I think that once you get into it it really packs an emotional punch. It might not be the song with the best chance at ESC, but it is the one that would best represent the new Italian music scene: dark, experimental, authentic. And as we have seen in these past few years, in Eurovision authenticity is always the key.

Fun facts: Gaia is half Brasilian, she speak a fluent Portugaise (she did a song called Chega in this language). The man with the mask in the performance of Extraliscio is the frontman of another group called Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti (letteraly: 3 happy dead guys). The old woman Orietta Berti is in the history of Sanremo, she partecipated 12 times at the competition (the first time in 1966, the last one before this in 1992).

Luke, Irama has never been able to perform live in this evenings 'cause one of his collaborators tasted positive for the Covid ... but in any case he was able to stay in the race because the Sanremo team transmits the recording of his dress rehearsal and his still climbing the charts. Irama stay strong ✌🏼🇮🇹

Sanremo 2nd night ✔️ And with this, all the entries are revealed! Before to say my opinion about the night, let's see about the final TOP 26 but with score now: *1. La Rappresentante di Lista - Amare* I'm speechless for this song. I'm honest, they were my favourite artists before the show. After listened some of their songs, I really hoped they didn't do a flop and from all the informations, they could have been something like a contemporary "Fai Rumore". But they've done more than I expected! The voice is amazing and the song gave me many feelings, also to let me crying for two/three listenings. Also the vibes, the rhythm and the power are so shocking! Maybe this has not any suspence and this exploded too soon, but they're my winner, they could be good for Eurovision, even with the rank it's hard to win now. Let's see *10/10* 2. Maneskin - Zitti e buoni *10/10* *3. Irama - La genesi del tuo colore* He's not a newcomer, I've thought something like "La ragazza dal cuore di latta" in 2019 (such an amazing song), but this one shocked me as well! This is the real Irama we want to listen! Fun fact, he's truly a superstar here for summer hits in reggaeton style, but when he's in Sanremo, it's Eurovision time! Power, presence, music and voice are on the point! Also the staging was so colorful, not randomly, the title translated is *The genesis of your color* ! Also about the metallic voice, I feel this is a little bit annoying, but I can stand for it, that's an additional effect to the song to make it more interesting. Now, he's the biggest favourite to represent Italy along to Annalisa, I can agree about him. He's perfect for Eurovision, looking this song reminds a little bit also Euphoria for the dance vibes. Even the lyrics are simple, the meaning is compatible with the theme of this edition that Amadeus wanted for us: *rebirth* . He's 5th now, he has still high chances to win with the televote, but I'm really scared that the press vote will put it down for some reasons... *10/10* *4. Lo Stato Sociale - Combat pop* Ok, despite the talking parts that are a little bit cringy, this song is so funny, crazy, but the strongest part is the lyrics that's really interesting and cool. The staging is so crazy and when the frontman (I guess?) turned in Freddy Mercury, TOP! Eurovision? I don't know, many people could dislike it for its craziness. They were newcomers three years ago in Sanremo and they came 2nd and now they come back with another great song in their style! *9/10* 5. Colapesce & Dimartino - Musica leggerissima *9/10* 6. Madame - Voce *9/10* *7. Gaia - Cuome amaro* Latin vibes, latin movements, to be half italiana and half brazilian, this is what I would expect from Gaia. Ethnic vibes with eletronic beat is this kind of music. I invite you to listen "Chega", that's sang in Brazilian portuguese. Brava Gaia! *9/10* *8. Willie Peyote - Mai dire mai (La locura)* Italian rap is here! Also the criticism is here! You won't know that this song has a particular meaning about Italy. The hook is perfect and just the power is constant. I'm honest, initially I didn't like his flow, but in this song he pulled the best he can do! Banger confirmated! *8/10* 9. Max Gazzè - Il farmacista *8/10* *10. Ermal Meta - Un milione di cose da dirti* My score for this song is "safe" actually, because this song is mostly likeable for the atmosphere, the beautiful Ermal's voice and the staging with some of the lyrics words (repeating Eurovision 2018 style???). The only problem is the song itself, too simple and not particular like meaning, too "sanremese". I would expect more from him, but hey! Still ok! *8/10* 11. Annalisa - Dieci *7/10* *12. Extraliscio & Davide Toffolo - Bianca luce nera* I think that mask scared you! 🤣 Well, that's unknown music for me too. I mean, when I saw them for the first time during Sanremo Giovani was the same. Also a fun fact: actually they would be like the second last place for me, because their style is not for me, but this song shocked me. This entry turned the Ariston theater in a "balera" perfectly! I liked this song, yeah that's crazy as well, but guilty pleasure! *7/10* *13. Orietta Berti - Quando ti sei innamorato* Orietta, the Italian queen! I'm really honest, I'm not interest for her music, but this song gives me chilling and a good atmosphere. Her voice is so wonderful, also I'm shocked she used an electronic beat in background, like *past meets the future*! Even everything was good, this song is dated, mostly lyrically, for this Sanremo *7/10* 14. Francesca Michielin & Fedez - Chiamami per nome *7/10* *15. Malika Ayane - Ti piaci così* Malika is one of the most beautiful female voices we have here, absolutely! I loved her last Sanremo entry "Adesso è qui (Nostalgico presente) in 2015, but I find this song a little bit weak. She sang so amazing and the passion is behind, also this give me chills, so it's good! Not bad Malika *7/10* *16. Bugo - E invece sì* *Che succede? Dov'è Bugo?* Oh! He's here! Ok, stop joking... I'm happy he's back after the disaster happened in the last edition, when another participant, Morgan, along to him edited the lyrics of their entry and then disqualified... His revenge is done! I mean, I'm not a Bugo fan, also I didn't like his previous entry ("Sincero" 😅), but this year the song is good! Yeah, it's kinda a "dated" italian pop song, but I like it. The only problem is the voice, but the rest is ok. The score is mostly for a support *7/10* 17. Fasma - Parlami *7/10* 18. Aiello - Ora *7/10* 19. Ghemon - Momento perfetto *6.5/10* 20. Coma_Cose - Fiamme negli occhi *6/10* 21. Noemi - Glicine *6/10* *22. Fulminacci - Santa Marinella* Tbh, this is my biggest disappointment for this edition. He was a promising artist after I listened some songs, but this is like a "sanremese regretion". It's still a good song, his voice is cute but I prefered something more *6/10* 23. Arisa - Potevi fare di più *6/10* *24. Random - Torno a te* I'm sorry for Random, but I'm not a fan of his entry. 😅 His voice is good, but here he went off sometimes, also I find this one not only weak but also too Sanremo style. Sorry! *5.5/10* 25. Francesco Renga - Quando trovo te *5/10* *26. Gio Evan - Arnica* I'm really sorry but I don't like this one at all. Also how he was singing was not likeable, but I didn't expect so much for him :/ 4/10 So that's my definitely top 26! The 2nd night was the strongest for me! Ermal Meta is leading the rank at the moment but there are still two nights to have a clear winner. I know many eurofans wants him, Annalisa and Irama to represent Italy in Eurovision. I can agree about Irama, but Annalisa and Ermal have some doubts because these are not so particular songs even showing their talent, this is why they're in the middle of my top. So I really hope he can mostly represent Italy this year, he's perfect with his "La genesi del tuo colore". It will be hard tonight Now, I need to say something about Sanremo 2021. You are not the only one to don't like certaim entries, it's normal. This is what the italian music is today and we love it. Also for some new kind of music, often at the first listening that's not for us. Sanremo is changing in the last years and this is really positive for us. Like this edition is really strong for me, each participant has own style and way to make music and I can just compare some power vibes like from MGP or UMK (not Melodifestivalen) and this is mostly likeable if we keep like this one. We are the Europe and looking all these differences about music is just wonderful. So finger crossed, let win the best and we hope that Italy choose the right entry! Extraliscio is not spanish, is Romagnol folk music, the dude is dressed like a voodo wizard because the song says "now that you read my hand, now you can read my destiny, now you kniw the future and the cards"

Extraliscio. The name contain the word 'liscio' that in my region represent the typical folk style of music. The one old school performed live in 'balere' a sort of ancient type of dance halls, still performed till today (the two young dancers were dancing the typical folk dance that is danced related to this kind of song in the specific, still school of 'liscio' dancing teaching and doing big competitions).

I would have liked to have Malika in the Eurovision 🥰 and I kind of liked Orietta too. Irama would have added a new layer to Eurovision. Great song. But none of this years songs got me like Fai rumore last year (which should have won or at least scored Top 3)

My winner (actually the only song I like out of all the 26 entries) is Amare by La Rappresentante di Lista. It’s melodic, it easily gets in your head, and the singer CAN SING and actually SINGS. The other entries are split into 2 categories: 1 A rhythm with some words talked by the “singer” (because that can’t be considered “singing”). 2 A melodic and musical song where the singer actually sings, but everything is boring and cheesy.

I’m in two minds about it really, because you can hear his vocals properly it’s just an over the top computer effect as opposed to a way to cover up any off notes like with some other acts. Like an unconventional effect?

It's called vocoder. It does not correct pitch or anything. It's a speech synthesis from 1938, used the most in electronic music. It actually does somehow the opposite effect of an autotune, compressing and flattening the tune, so, actually, you have to sing pretty well and direct when using it.
