@@jods1 Two reasons that I'm aware of; George was a very melodic lead player and he knew that this song needed something a little different than his style. There was also a lot of tension between the guys while recording the 'While Album' so he thought that by bringing in a guest musician, they would quit bickering (Ringo actually quit for a short time). George and Eric were good friends so George asked him to come in and play on the song and that got the song done and calmed the atmosphere in the studio.

If someone told me there would be a crossroad for the unimaginable guitar playing of Santana, the emotional grasp of India Arie's voice, and YoYo Ma's deceptively powerful talent I would never in a million years be able to think of a project that could bring them together. When you add George Harrison's song writing into the mix you instantly get 4-6 minutes (depending on the video or album version, I believe it's longer) of pure emotional nirvana

I saw him and his homies in Rio, 1971. The Maracanãzinho Gymnastic Stadium: Santana and Neal Schon played almost to the break of dawn that night, defying the military in power in Brazil. I remember all of them, after the show, inside a brand new german opel: Gregg Rollie, José Areas, and that magic drummer from Woodostock. That night will live forever. Santana gave to us all a lesson on generosity and humbleness: He gave away the front stage to Schon. And the 17 years boy amazed and enchanted my city, for one magic week. Nobody talks shit about him, Suárez. I saw him alive, and the guy was, and still is pure magic. Those boys here talking trash don't know anything. Yankees love talk trash (that didn't work for Ben Askren against Jorge Masvidal, though...)

I love Indie Arie..amazing talent, and you cant say enough about Carlos Santana. This remake does justice to the original which is hard in my book. I love the message and it is BEAUTIFUL . Director made a work of art here. I do have say that I agree with the comments about Prince doing this song live. I think Santana captures the soft hand that is needed for Aries voice. ❤ This version! It’s one of the rare gems 💎 that I found quite by accident from the YT side list of ‘recommendations’ and hit ‘play’ by mistake. It’s a beautiful and VERY different treatment and arrangement compared with a lot of the other covers done by many - the vocalist and Santana together is what did it for me❗️👍 (BTW: I’m 67 and have always liked Santana, in addition to being a classical pianist and organist since I was 5.)
