It's been a while since I did a ride around in Santo Domingo. In this episode we are visiting Santo Domingo Norte. This is the area of Santo Domingo where I spent most of my life before moving to the United States. The is a large population of Dominicans living in this area. You can find everything you need on this side of town. If you are looking for a typical Dominican neighborhood to live in there are some decent areas here. Also, rent can be much cheaper here over other areas of Santo Domingo. Enjoy the ride!

I live in Santo domingo norte and most people don't speak English so you would have to learn some Spanish. I've helped a lot of americans when I go to stores because they can't communicate, so I would recommend learning some basic Spanish if someone's planning to live there.

Thank you for that tour that reminds me of my childhood. I lived in San Felipe de Villa Mella until I was 15 years old, the best years of my life, although here in the USA things have not gone badly for me. I really miss my neighborhood La 29 near Club Joseph. It would be good if you made a video of Villa Mella. 🇩🇴🇺🇸

The townhouse and villas I passed by in this video is in Santo Domingo Norte also but in the area of Jacobo Majluta. That is a growing area and very quiet.

Yes urbanizacion Maximo Gomez I also lived there for about 4 years en la Malvinas I remember that was the best neighborhood of the area years ago and I think still is.

I love Santo Domingo Norte. What's the point of living abroad if you aren't amongst the people? I'm the only American in my neighborhood and everyone treats me very kindly.

It's important to note, it's hard to get lost because most of these neighborhoods are off the one main street (hermanas Mirabel) and the metro follows the same street going north. That's why I say you don't need a car if you live in the north, it's faster to ride the metro and no traffic. One bad part about one street is the traffic is ridiculous all day everyday. Unless you have a moto you will wait a long time in your car 😂😂

There is no such thing as light traffic in Santo Domingo. I would recommend Santo Domingo Este. I'm not sure about the traffic there but it's away from the city so it's probably not that bad.

Santo Domingo is about 30 to 40 mins from the nearest beach Boca Chica. Santo Domingo Este is the area that would be closest.

Santo Domingo Norte, this is the first place in Dominican Republic where i stayed, very stable area...i want to buy a property exactly there....i mean there are lots of places in the country to visit (lets be real)...but Villa Mella, i would like to call it "home"

That is good and surprising 👍🙌❤. Most foreigner will not like that area to much due to the fact that it so much going on there that if you are not to familiar with how the area is you can get frustrated.

The cemetery is called Jardín Memorial. That's where ex-first lady and wife of Hipólito, doña Rosa Gómez de Mejía, will be buried tomorrow March 23. For people reading this and don't know, she was the mother of Carolina Mejía de Garrigó, the current mayor of Santo Domingo and first woman as mayor of the city.

Mucho hace Santo Domingo. Vivimos al lado de Haití, como acabar con la arrabalizacion, si lo haitianos vienen y hacen sus casuchas. Yo creo que Santo Domingo mucho hace con ese tremendo problema.

@@ramoncruz4369 no ombe amigo no digas eso, yo le pregunto,aquí quien manda el gobierno (autoridades) o los haitianos? Obviamente que el gobierno, lo que creo es por la dejadez de las autoridades desde hace mucho tiempo, los ayuntamientos aquí no funcionan, la mayoría son botellas de los compañeros del alcalde de turno, recogen los desechos apenas , sin embargo ese no es solo su función como cabildo, la gente se coge las aceras porque no se conforman con el tamaño de su terreno sino que si los dejan meten una pared en medio de la misma calle, es decir no es solo un asunto y una culpa de los haitianos, nosotros mismos como sociedad somos muy desordenados, y sumele a eso la falta de visión de los que nos dirigen, es decir es solo cumplir y hacer cumplir la ley simplemente eso, todos esos haitianos y dominicanos que ponen negocios invadiendo el espacio público y afeando el entorno solo hay que aplicarle la ley y punto , respetar los espacios , evitar que los barrios crezcan de manera desordenadas , es decir no creo amigo que sea la culpa principal de los ilegales haitianos.

Es muy difícil así, si nosotros fuéramos solos hace tiempo fuéramos desarrollados, son 2.5 millones aquí en Estados Unidos y yo me incluyo en esos. Pero como tú puedes hacer algo cuando tienes que mantener un país que no tiene nada y se reproducen como locos, es la triste realidad.

Yo estoy de acuerdo, si se pusiera un poquito mas de interes para el bien comun y del pais estubieramos y nos podriamos ver un poquito mejor. Tenemos muchos recursos que son muy mal utilizados.
