Wow. The homesick analogy was perfect. That’s exactly how I felt, I remember saying to my mom “I feel like I just want to go home” even though I was home. It was the worst feeling. Thank you for this

I would love to see Amanda hosting a late night show. It's rare to see a interviewer who guides a conversation and lets the interviewee speak for themselves, rather than force a particular answer out. This type of conversation is so much more compelling than the typical 'tell a funny story in four minutes or less'. Sarah Silverman is very funny - but I'm much more interested in her now that I've learned about her search for agency.

Feeling scared that you are all alone inside and no one can see behind your eyes... It sounds illogical to all those that don't have to battle with these demons, but those who do know it all too well. Great interview

I believe you can alleviate it with exercise. That's great. For most people moderate depression is a constant battle to stay strong and just do what you can. Love yourself and don't blame yourself for the bad days.

I listened to her podcast where she strongly advocated that a listener go back on SSRIs because more serotonin is a wonderful thing and why should anyone deny themselves these wonderful meds! The person was saying that she was finding solace in faith but Sarah was just sure that she ought to take the meds again. She is a classic example of people who want to make themselves feel better about taking these drugs but encouraging everyone to be on them, too. I happen to be someone whose life was ruined by being on these drugs for 20+ years and I’m finally off them, and it was a nightmare coming off because of the fact that they change the brain to be dependent on them, and withdrawal is very real and dangerous. Take them if you must, but don’t go around trying to get everyone else to take them to make yourself feel better about yourself taking them!

Hi, Amanda. I didn't know how I could contact you, so I'm writing here. My name's Angélica and I want to subtitle your videos to spanish. I'm from Peru and I'm majoring in translation. I always want to show your material to my friends, but they don't understand english so I can't. I think these videos would really help them a lot and not only them.

Does any know what she is on now, that the low Zoloft stopped working? i've had the same thing happen and since it takes 4wks for these meds. to work i could use recommendation. Dr. already tried adding Welbutrin, and bumping Sertraline to 100mg/day, and neither worked. ty

The homesick analogy is exactly the meaning of depression but also depression make me feel that I am on the other side of the coin; everyone who is with me feel homesick of something else. I feel incapable of being warm or offering warmth to my significant other even when I love them so deeply.

Most comedians have talked about being depressed, it makes sense when you think about how comedy is usually about having a laugh over something negative. Being depressed gives you more time to think about negative things, might as well flip them into jokes.

Technically, adopting a child *is* like getting your kid from a breeder...
@SkateSka
@SkateSka 7 жыл бұрын
Nope, it's like getting one from a shelter for kids who are abandoned or whose parents are unfit to take care of them. At least as far as I'm aware nobody owns a farm where people are bred for adoption (yet).

I think the interviewer talked to much and interrupted her too much. I don't think she doesn't want to have kids because of passing on depression, I think she is getting too old and possibly has health problems that would prevent it. I don't think the fear of passing on depression is a good reason not to have kids anyway. you don't necessarily pass everything on and no ones genes are perfect. also, I wish sarah wouldn't have had plastic surgery. she's naturally gorgeous and p. surgery has diminished her looks.

um not wanting to pass on depression is great reason to not have kids. depression can be absolutely debilitating. I wouldn't wish it on anybody.

Nan Bollinger Ah, good to know. I'm sorry for assuming, but depression can in fact be hereditary. There are a few genes that have been identified that make you more prone to it. Other mental illnesses such as bipolar or schizophrenia are also heritable.

I've been longing for children so much these last 3 years, I'm 35. But lately I've been attacked by depression severely and that made me question having children so much. You don't want them to suffer like you do. I come from a very loving single mother and still there have been many times when I don't love myself at all. I don't dare to tell her about my depression because she will suffer deeply. See? You don't want your child to suffer alone. Depression is a lonely pain.

Your comment is 4 years old. I cam across this interview because I recently read that Sarah didn't want to have kids because she didn't want to pass her depression on. The reason why I am searching for these kinds of stuff is that I am thinking of having a kid. I am hesitated because I have depression and hypochondria. I am really afraid to pass them on. But it is unfair for my wife. She wants to have a baby. I am really lost.
