Pretty fair rewiew mate! 3.5 ton towing is a farce. Numbers on a paper to sell them{every brand}. I have a XLT V6 that works for a living. 2 years and 60000ks in and its a ripper. Legally and saftey wise 3 ton is max towing with all our tools on the back and it handles it like a handbag. Oh, and the door handles take about a month to get used to{old school F100 style} They are great because you actually have hold of the door when you open it and the wind from passing traffic ect doesn't tear it out of your hand. The factory brake controller is out of this world. You just set the gain on max and the vehicle brakes the trailer to pedal pressure. It works like air brakes so in an emergency brake situation it sends everything to the trailer first and then controls the ute. Definatley some excellent Aussie engineering going on there! The trailer light check feature is also awsome! It will be very interesting to see how the new Ranger SUPER DUTY goes when released. It's actually built to proper tow 3.5 ton and 1 ton + payload at the same time. 8000kg GCM.

I have the Everest & find the handle gives you more control of the door when you open it, especially in tight carparks & on slopes when the door can fly open as you don't have to pull a latch then grab the door. In regards to handling better then previous models the wider wheel base & changes to suspension from the previous model made a huge difference to how the Everest manages towing too

Had mine for a year, I’ve towed I’ve done some 4wheeling and pretty much bought the car for what I use it for… all round it’s incredible, does it all and yes it takes time to learn how to use it but anyone with enough grey matter between the ears will learn how to use it properly, as far as your review goes I think you just need time with car to make an accurate assumption. Yo keeren good review . I’ve had 2 new rangers. And they have been incredible to tow. Never been a fan of ford had a Colorado and bt50 and I thought they were the ants pants till I got the new ranger. The first ranger didn’t like a drain water bollard and pretty well destroyed it hitting it front on but the air bags failed to deploy which was an issue. But as far as towing it’s incredible. I do kangaroo valley and Macquarie pass all the time which is incredibly steep and it chews it up like I’ve got no van on the back. Any one thats going to shit on the ranger you need to get in one to tow it will change your option on ford. Exactly about the electronic hand brake it shits me so much trying to line up under a d 35 hitch. You’re correct about that . 👍🏻 I’ve had one for more than 2 years now and for towing a good size van it’s awesome . I don’t have chump change for a Land Cruiser or ram or Silverado but this ranger is pretty awesome to tow👍🏻

Ford update is to turn off the lane keeping when towing, easy as double clicking a button on the steering wheel. Just towed a 2.7t van from melb to Brisbane over 2 days, in my V6 XLT, cruise set at 100kph in normal drive mode, fuel economy per tank varied between 15.6 up to 18.5. Overall economy over 1800km 17.6, the reason for 22 litres per 100 is unsung tow/haul mode which blocks off 9/10 gears.
@Lisas-Days5 күн бұрын
Btw you don’t need to go into the tow mode to access the tow settings. I’m surprised at your towing fuel economy, I’m towing a 2 tonne camper with mine and sit around 12-13l per 100km and mine sits at 3 tonne with my extras and GCM upgrade.

Hi Keelen, very honest review, I believe the new Ranger has approx 50 wider track which is part of the reason that it fells more stable when towing and I also think the new 10 Speed Auto also helps with it felling when driving. As for the driver Aids, I don't think you will be able to buy a new car without them, it does take some getting used to. Am interested in the comparison you gave with the previous model being bullied by the van. I think the wheel base and track width play a big role here. Also the distance from the rear axle to tow ball. Are these dimensions a fair bit different?
@Sh1tstir4 күн бұрын
Also I think some of the issue of bullying may come down to hitch anti sway bar set up.... 3.5 ton no sway bar is dead set dangerous on a straight ball type anti sway bar is chalk and cheese diffrent although since changing to a D035/45 hitch with no sway bar its even better again even at hwy speeds the only real time I feel the van being there is obvious spots like acceleration and up hills you feel weight but no side to side

Well, I offered to test Ronny’s 2.8 against Leroy our 200 but he didn’t seem keen. All the 2.8L VS v8 landcruiser comparisons on the internet are manual 70 series v8 cruisers which are a single turbo slugs ..where the 200 series have two turbos and are automatic trans which are known to be way better tow vehicles with a lot more usable power from standard with the extra turbo different tune and auto trans to deliver the power better. Automatic vs automatic sounds like a more apples for apples test to me.. but I was suggest using a stock 200.. not Leroy as he makes twice as much as a standard one and would be a very unfair test
@brentgreen61774 күн бұрын
I suspect the door handles are designed that way for Euro regulations. In the Netherlands (possibly other EU countries too) you are required to open the drivers door with your inside hand (called the Dutch Reach) as it forces you to turn and get a better view of traffic approaching from behind. Very hard to do that with the door card latch of the previous models….

That’s a really good review Keelan, I have had the V6 XLT cab chassis for a bit over a year with a combination of towing a 3T van and remote touring trips like Dirk Hartog Island unhitched, this car has done it all very well. Comparing to the other dual cab utes - the Ranger is the best, comparing to a 200 series it’s probably not quite apples with apples, utes always tow worse due to the overhang from the rear axle but for a lot of us wagons aren’t too useful and a Ute is preferred and that comes with a compromise. Anyway in my felt experience I don’t really disagree with anything you have said, the door handles become normal and mine has far less alarms being a cab chassis less premium model 👍

Not exactly true both utes and wagons have there pros and cons wagons are nicer to travel in interior nicer ride nicer but utes have a longer wheelbase which helps with getting swayed around rear springs are harder and carry weight better eg tongue weight both have pros and cons

Unfortunately for a lot of the 'annoying' software features it's all around meeting 5 star ANCAP which is why it's there on every new 4x4 pretty much needs them (otherwise they're basically guaranteed to fail commercially as it would exclude them from lots of fleet requirements and finance options). So unfortunately lane keep, emergency breaking and the other ones are here to stay and there's nothing Ford (or anyone really) can do to change it.

I believe you have made a mistake on the weights and payload as you may have double dipped- the car can tow 3500 with a GCM of 6400 and a tare of 2400. And a GVM of 3350. You take the whole 3500 off your gcm and end up with 2900 then you DONT minus the ball weight off 2900? The ball wieght is off the full gcm. So if it’s 3350 minus at max 350 then you have 3000 and essentially 600 payload however yes the car is goverend by the GCM therefore its self can only weigh 2900 if towing a full 3500kg so this is still a 500kg payload as a ford has the fuel tank included in the tare. I have a bull bar , long range tank, draw and 2 people in car and still have 200kgs to pack in.

No absolutely not, we do not receive anything from any car manufacturer. it's payed promotion because we display discount codes at the start of ALL our videos. There is button I click when uploading the videos. KZbin doesn't declare it a paid promotion I declare it a paid promotion. Most videos you see should display that at the start due to the fact 95% of people have some sort of promotion they make money from in videos. We believe it's important to display that out of respect for the people who watch our show. thats why we do it. the reason for the review was because I think people would find it interesting and helpful for those looking at buying a new vehicle.

Serious people will still pay that stooopid price for 79 simplicity. Why wont Ford,Mitsubishi, GM, pay attention and simplify some shit too. Sadly, acronyms sell cars to non-car people.

I live at the top of qld, a mate does the racq recoveries from Nolan’s and the rest of the otl. The most common recovery is a ford ranger.

I hate ford.. but is that because they’re the most common car?

It hasn’t got Matrix headlights, only LED lights.

Why do t you say they just gave you a free car 🤪
@SarahandKeelanTravelsКүн бұрын
Hahaha because that’s a blatant lie.. fortis caravans New Zealand bought the ranger full price and lent it to us to use for 3 weeks.. ford dosnt just give out free rangers..

Everyone commenting about gcm etc must not be in nz. No one gives a s in nz. There are no cops here. Tow what ya want with watever ya want 🤣. Still rather the 200 series over any gay ford

I will never ever buy anything but Toyota. If your gunna tow 3.5 ton buy a tundra.

I love our land cruiser! still in my opinion the best all rounder vehicle on the market! towing, off-road, parking, comfort. Tows 3.5t well!

These dualcab utes are toys including the landcruiser, buy a 4wd dualcab truck, fuso or isuzu if you want to tow large objects.
@SarahandKeelanTravels5 күн бұрын
I bet! They tow great But a truck won’t go all the places I go. They also happen to be the most common vehicle we find bogged on our travels around Australia in the last 4 years. Landcruiser/ y62 in my opinion is the best all rounder platform on the market. Tow well, still fit down the tight tracks, never get stuck (havnt come across many stuck anyway. Skill plays a big part too)
