The best thing about this car is when most of those comparable BMW’s are sitting broken down with broken hearted owners or they just send them to the scrapyard because they are too expensive to repair, this Lexus will probably still be running fine.

you are - how do I say it - late to the party - my E30, E36 and E46 manual M3's have been low maintenance, lower than my 997 993 and 964 - had a Lexus LS430 a 1998 4 Runner and a 2004 Land Cruiser - sold them all happily ..........

I love the fact that Lexus isn't trying to be all things to all people. They are laser focused on building the highest quality cars with most of the features people want, but not everything under the sun. The exhaust sound is a bit tame. I’m sure CAFE regulations will probably spell the death of that V8 eventually. It may not be as fast as an M3 but it will probably last like 5 times longer and won’t cost as much to keep it on the road. Very nice car!

The primary reason to choose this over an M3 is that you will not have to get to know your mechanic on a first name basis. German "engineering" for the last 20 years has declined into overly complicated, completely unreliable crap.

Got it 1/8/2022, Infrared/White. Your review is spot-on. Will say that it's pretty different from the IS 350 F Sport, not just a motor difference. Steering is heavier, suspension is dampened more sharply. . .great performance in a car that can be comfortably driven daily.

Great in depth video. I owned a 2016 BMW M4 that thing was a mechanical nightmare. It lived more in the dealership than in my garage. After throwing a lot of money at my BMW M4, I realized that the BMWs are like strippers the more money you throw at them the better they perform. Nothing beats the reliability of a Lexus. I am deciding between this car, the 2022 C8, and even the 2022 911 GTS. The reason I am leaning towards this car is the price point and the Lexus reliability.

Drives me nuts that Yamaha / Toyota partnership did not produce a updated JZ engine and the world has a BMW Supra. I loved your throwback to the Altezza and the Beams! Currently that Beams is on my radar for a AE86 GTS project I have going. The IS has always been rock solid value that requires little maintenance compared to is over engineered German competitors. Nice Review!

As an 11’ IS F owner for over four years and performing almost all of my own service work, I can say this new car isn’t an F but it’s as close as we will ever get again. I appreciate your review of the car and showing all its details. Yes, this will be the last of an era. I hope to get one after realize to put my F in the garage and enjoy it on dry, sunny days and make this new IS500 F sport blah blah my daily. That’s Sarah for your great vids!

You are right, that car and others like it, are a dying breed. Having an actual CD slot in the audio system, and it's use of a Torsen in the back, almost define it as being an outlier.

I totally understand your feeling regarding cars with a soul. Tesla's and so on are OK but lack the sound, the feeling and the interaction with the driver. Driving a car for work is not the same as driving it for fun. When it comes to fun, I know what to choose, as do you.

Lexus V8 engines are really special, RCF, LC500, and now the IS500. Gotta catch them all before they're gone. The German offerings are great too, but on a different level. Lexus are just so much more special, especially with the NA V8s.

25.4 mm per inch, 12.7 inches is 322.58 mm, math is not hard, rebuilding cars is. I like the turbulence generator, reminds me of the Nissan/ Datsun under body spoiler, I actually want one for my truck. Think it might handle a little better with some down force in the rear.

I’m stumped between buying this car, a used LC500, or a TLX Type S. I have a feeling that the IS500 and the LC will actually steadily hold their value over time, ( maybe even appreciate a little) but the TLX Type S is just as much fun to drive but somewhat cheaper. 🤔

They didn’t want to call it an ISF because the CEO doesn’t think it’s worthy. It’s more of a V8 cruiser than a track level car. It’s not comparable to an M3 or anything like that imo. It has its own niche.

The engine is very much restricted from the flattened exhaust design, imagine a better breathing exhaust system, you might gain a nice amount of power and lose some weight in the process. Overall I love this thing my love for the ISF, RCF , LC500 I love all the Lexus v8s they're so special to me.
